    My eldest couldn't remember the name for bagpipes and called them "autotuned hornbags" which is one of my favorites, and I still use it.

    In relation to mario kart, we had no idea what the superhorn was called, we always called in "The Honkerbanger". Likewise we didn't understand what the drafting sprites were in MK on the wii, it looked like the person in front of you was sweating big droplets of water. We'd say we were "getting sweat".

  • On my most recent new install of gimp a few weeks back, it now has a reopen last documents feature, and I think it does now cache your last open files in the event of a crash.

    I've been using GIMP since the mid 2000's as a replacement for Photoshop4/5 and it has always been a great tool. I haven't ever really had any major stability issues with it.

  • We finally had to break down and accept a smart TV as our last purchase. I didn't want anything like that on my network. It never gets updates, it never talks to home, it never asks me to agree to anything. The way a display should be.

    I do have a few IOT monitors, but they are relegated to the banishment VLAN and are unaware there is anything else on network in the house.

    For those who want an dumb TV, you want to shop for a commercial signage display. It's what a TV should be.

    Projectors are also a good option if you want a huge picture with a simple display.

    As a Nurse who works nation wide I have seen the effects of narcan on heroin,meth,acid and such. But what would happen to a person who is really really high on weed?

  • You wait. Narcan is not given for Cannabis.

    Cannabis overdose results in illness but never death. You wait for your body to metabolize it. The LD50 is high enough where medical professionals don't consider it a risk at all.

  • I said none of that. I don't know why you'd assume any of the above from an obviously simplified laymans' explanation of the concept of a download. I'm well aware of this, but my target audience may not be. Write for your audience, not for you.

    The beauty of science is its establishment of facts through trial and review. You cannot fake results long term. Unfortunately for us, scientific discipline is presently being ignored. I don't think this will always be the case; I think it will be the case for a little while yet, until enough tire of it to make a difference. I think that's finally starting to make an impact. This is an act of desperation, not kindness or progress.
