  • Slashdot. I have a very low 3 digit UID. I followed Rob Malda's blog before he registered the domain.

    I remember having Netscape open on the site and reading it. I walked a couple blocks to by a pack of smokes. Got back home and refreshed the page. Noticed a new post with site registration available, so of course I did.

    To this day I still get password reminder requests to my email that I never sent.

    I still comment and sometimes get some people replying noticing the low UID.

    Silly I know, but it's cool to me anyway.

  • I've been to Venezuela twice for some extended stays. First time when Chavez was still around. Second time when Maduro was a couple years in office. I can still remember listening to his radio addresses. I remember feeling the heat off the asphalt in the city, the crazy traffic, the beautiful beaches.

    Looking down from the hills onto the canopy below and seeing fireworks at midnight Christmas Eve into Christmas. I knew id never be back as it was dangerous AF then (2013 last time).

    We would say it was once a beautiful country but now it's just a beautiful land.

  • You go to Aldi for the staples to save a ton of money. Supplement elsewhere for other things. I used to live in Chicago and there was a Trader Joe's on top of an Aldi on the same building (same ownership in believe). It was glorious.

  • I remember in the mid 90s I was looking at Linux World's website and they had just implemented account registrations that same day. I was fuzzing the website and they had left directory browsing enabled and the users, passwords, and email was sitting in a plain text flat file that was world readable.

    I emailed them, didn't get a response but within the hour the registration/login was disabled along with no more directory browsing.

  • I just eat a whole grains (brown rice, not white. 100% whole wheat etc) and plenty of fruits and vegetables that naturally contains fiber in addition to many other beneficial nutrients.

    Your stool should be the consistency like toothpaste squeezing out of a tube. Mine is, albeit I go 2-3x a day , but I'll take it!

  • I spend way too much on my smart phone. That's correctable, but I depend on Uber/Lyft. I think I would need to get a cheap android and just have the discipline to put only essential apps like ride share, maps, encrypted messenging and like nothing else. Not even email, Lemmy, bill pay, grocery delivery, etc

    Seems weird to me too, I first started texting around 2005 when I finally got a cell phone. When I saw full punctuation I felt like I was getting scolded.

  • Even with upick, it's more expensive. The cost per pint of blueberries or strawberries we pick on the local farm is way more expensive than the grocery store. I guess they're charging us for the experience.

    Same thing for apples. $25 for a peck. We went to the store after and the same size bag was 99 cents.
