  • Not exactly, no, but I have seen several women as 'best friends' in the role, and they ran the range of confident jokemasters to nervous public speakers.

    My advice is 1) to make sure to ask the dj how to best hold the mic so people can hear you 2) rest assured that the groom chose you for the role - he has the confidence in you - rely on that to help boost yours 3) prepare so you can relax - don't overthink it past that!

  • I ran a dj business for about 15 years until covid and the sucky state of music killed the interest in it for me. We did hundreds of weddings.

    The most memorable best man/maid of honor speeches were the ones where the speaker showed genuine love for the couple, shared a memory of them/with them, and delivered the speech from the heart, not from a piece of paper. They didn't make it about themselves. They didn't do a "roast" either. Those are tacky.

    Honor your friend and his wife (often she's had a vision of this day instilled in her from early childhood) by focusing on them.

  • 1996-the end dodge grand caravan / Chrysler Town and country minivans can fit 4x8 drywall up to a bit over a foot deep, more if you're able to slide the front seats up. I finished out my basement hauling 2x4's and drywall in my 2012 t&c. Damn side better gas mileage too

  • She's not going to have one whit of self awareness. I may be going out on a limb here, but it doesn't sound like he was exactly the sharpest bulb in the ocean, and her reported cry to "turn off" the MRI (despite the repeated screenings you get prior to an MRI, warnimg patients about metal) indicate she isn't either. She's 100% gonna blame the provider and sue, adding to the rising cost of healthcare.

  • Ignoring the warnings when they say "extreme danger to life" for the river you're in when your buildings and the kids you're responsible for are in the damn river's floodplain does not "make it difficult to decide".

    I'm not virtue signaling. I'm mad as fucking hell. Because I know there are actions that could (and damn well should) have been taken to protect those kids and counselors, and the rot began at the top.

    NOAA Weather Radios go off like alarm clocks when warnings are issued. Loud as hell. We hear ours 1 floor away through closed doors with a fan and a white noise machine. This camp absolutely should have had not 1 but 2 of these in separate locations.

    I'm the emergency manager of a camp. We have redundant alert and notification systems, a full All Hazards emergency plan and drill routinely for sheltering and evacuation.

    No less should have been done for these kids. This is 100% on the hands of the leadership of the camp. Full stop.
