PieFed because it has more features and integrates better with Mastodon users.
Not yet, but I’m wondering if we’ll have a new influx of users over this.

You’re absolutely right! Mangos are orange.

Last week it ordered a mango. I ate the mango.
Meanwhile the video is displaying an orange.

The description in the article sounded a bit crazy… So I had to lookup a video of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7p5LxFdc-Qg

Yeah, the artificial cloud transition was a bit more obvious when the terrain changed drastically from a yellowish color to a snowy white.

Features:
For me, the features of an instance was a major factor. This is the main reason why I switched from a Lemmy instance to a PieFed instance.
Polls, combined communities into feeds, comments from all crossposts in one post, multi images in posts, better integration with Mastodon users, scheduled posts, tags, flair, blurring of spoilers, etc. All good reasons to use PieFed instead of Lemmy.
As far as hopping between instances of the same software:
Content:
I usually prefer instances that give the end user more control over the content they want to see. That means minimizing the number of instances blocked (as much as reasonable) and more federation. Piefed.Zip would likely be the next instance I’ll hop to.
Privacy:
.World instances actively block VPN users. So that’s one reason I would avoid them for future hops.
Politics:
In general, only if the admins block/ban users based mostly on their political beliefs. I try to avoid factoring in whether admins have political beliefs that match my own. There will always be things that people disagree on, and everyone has their own lines that they have drawn on how far they’re willing to support others based on their own beliefs.
What matters to me is that an admin can treat others fairly, even if they disagree on politics.
Domain Name:
Usually not a factor unless it’s something absurd.

An example could be Star Wars, where they discuss how a light saber works.
It’s worth noting that fiction can and has led to new inventions before. So, discussing how something could work in real life, could lead to people trying out new things because they were inspired by a book.

It will definitely be interesting to play the remastered version of this.

I like how we hit 50% at halfway through the video.

This is also likely to happen if they’re using a VPN, since all requests from anyone else using the same VPN server will appear to be coming from the same IP address.
Alternatively, @uten151@thelemmy.club could have a Smart TV with one of the many apps installed that sets up a residential proxy so that other users/bots can use their IP address to appear to be legitimate traffic.

A little less than half of the apps you can download for an LG TV will also set up residential proxies.
Gamers Nexus mentioned this article in a recent video:

Pistachios.

It’s a small read. Reposting here for visibility:
Hit by a Cloudflare bill assassin: a $10k bill. The cause was a Durable Object alarm in an infinite loop in one project, which did 6 trillion reads and writes. Vibe coding failed me.
Update from the author:
Conclusion: One vibe-coded Durable Object alarm kept rescheduling itself forever. Cloudflare has no hard spending limit, so the loop ran until the invoice came. Not refunded — the author paid in full.
tldr: An infinite loop in a Durable Object alarm did 6 trillion reads/writes and caused a $10,811.41 Cloudflare bill that was not refunded.

GamersNexus put out a video recently, in it they mentioned that ~43% of apps on LG’s SmartTV appstore are packaged along with “residential proxies”. These residential proxies allow them to use your home IP address for whatever traffic they want to appear to come from an actual home. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IFVTcM28KA&t=58m49s
My assumption here is that there are a lot of bots taking advantage of these proxies to set up reddit accounts in this way.

Only 3 of them are from 2024.
14 of them are from 2025.
1,295 are from 2026.
Most likely the ones from 2024 were deemed lower priority/unlikely to be used vulnerabilities.

Only slightly more on GoG ($2 vs $1) if you want to actually own the game:

How would you fix it?
