    These days I use a Debrid service to steam torrents directly to my TV at gigabit speeds, with Stremio as my frontend to give me a Netflix-like experience. You get all the convenience of a modern streaming service, without the exorbitant fees nor the hassle of managing a Jellyfin server. Just fire up the TV and pick something to watch.

  • Okay, so the answer basically is that you can't have multiple people working on overlapping bits of code, not without someone sorting it out first.

    Being able to have two different people work on different parts of the same file without causing any issues makes sense, but I also thought there was some magic formula that fixes everything if two people try to upload the file with the same part of the code modified in two different ways at the same time.

    Git is not as magical as I thought it was now that you've explained it.

  • Given how bad so many people are at washing their hands (if they even wash at all), I kind of wish this was a real policy. At the very least, there should be a designated hand washing supervisor for the employees at restaurants.

    I've worked in the industry on and off for many years; on far too many occasions I've seen not only improper washing technique, but also handling cooked food, then taking out the trash/touching a door handle, then going back to handling food without a glove change. And then contaminating the gloves by touching the same part that touches food when they do change them. It's extremely common and happens in every restaurant I've worked at. Good thing we have immune systems.

  • I was raised by one, which was so bizarre because he was an otherwise intelligent and articulate person. Could have easily been a college professor but instead chose to waste his time on religion.

    He claims he never stopped believing, but when the world didn't actually end on October 21, 2011, he picked up drinking and smoking and started wasting money on $20 scratcher tickets. Stopped reading the Bible every day as well, and eventually turned a MAGA republican near the end. Then on September 30, 2021 he was killed by an intoxicated driver, while crossing the street to buy a scratcher and cigarettes, a few days after brain surgery.

    This is what religion does to you. It gets you fucking killed.

  • It all comes down to Japanese peoples' beliefs. They see modding their games as a shameful behavior because they compare it to plagiarism. As ridiculous as it is, they see it as stealing their ideas instead of coming up with your own. In their eyes you should be making your own game from scratch instead of ressurecting theirs.

    It's the same reason why Nintendo is so god damn evil. In their eyes they're doing the honorable thing by suing their own customer base.

  • Bitcoin saved me from losing everything. You'd have to be a god damn fool to claim that it doesn't have its uses. Investing when bitcoin was worth $19K was the smartest decision I ever made. You'll never convince me that it's a scam.
