  • I mean, sure but Dems only really have a chance because Republicans continue to run the shuttiest candidates imaginable. That is absolutely true

Like, Obama won partly because McCain chose to run with Palin. It’s not the only reason he won, but it’s silly to think it wasn’t a major factor - especially considering everything we know about white American voters, that’s been made just as clear as it ever could be. I bet it was a tough decision for some/many Americans

I’ve always wished I could feel like the choice in a general election was a hard decision, but alas I’m working class and brown (and believe in science)

Do those goalposts have little feet on them?

    “Democrats wouldn’t do this”

    Democrats do this

    “No, not like that”

Look, I said it in a dumb meme format so you know it’s true

(I appreciate you for posting here, just making fun of you 😊)

  • Yeah, I couldn’t believe the ridiculous narrative either. After the reading the article though, it at least makes some sense for me as a Mexican-American dude. It’s mainly white people doing better and I guess that totally tracks (also helps explains why so many people here are ready to believe it). I honestly sometimes forget to remind myself “American” hardly ever means all Americans

That said, it’s wild how little discussion there is on this here and how any mention of frustration with the accepted narrative results in others thinking you’re just a bitter idiot, or something

Idk… I find pi AI incredible and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in having a low-stakes conversation about their mental health or just to have a general conversation about what they’re feeling. I honestly don’t use it enough (like when I’m super bummed and have no one to talk to). So far, it’s always been 1000% helpful

  • Dude, conservatives are literally burning banning books everywhere in the country where they have power. They’ve even banned books meant to encourage girls to learn how to code. Real bananas stuff, imo

I appreciate you’re trying to communicate well and you seem authentic and all, but it’s very difficult to take your position seriously when it feels like you’re not trying to challenge your own beliefs. There’s a ton of evidence of conservative censorship going as far back as McCarthyism and interment camps, to rock and roll and rap music, to even burning comic books in the 50s, and that’s just thinking of the US. There’s a very long history of white conservative Christians censoring almost everything popular going back like hundreds of years

As a personal anecdote, my cousin had to break his pokemon gameboy games and burn his pokemon cards because his dipshit mom abusive mother thought they were satanic, simply because her church said so. I got some cool, holographic cards out of it, but I never forgot how messed up that was

  • Ah, carry on. I assumed you were more interested in advancing progressive policies and convincing others to do the same as opposed to just yelling at the clouds, which I imagine must be quite cathartic :)

The thing is, since the primaries are over, the best time to have this discussion has passed, and with there only being two parties in the US and both having already nominated a candidate your comment seems out of place, at best, and at worst, intentionally divisive and counterproductive towards advancing legislation progressives support

I mean, at least in this community, I’d assume most people that care about “progressive politics” already know Harris isn’t left of Bernie or anything so it’s not really that interesting or enlightening. I think at this point, most of us just care that she’s significantly left of Trump and most importantly believes in basic things like the rule of law and science
