Your outrage is both understandable and agreed with but I'm pretty sure most people in the US are NOT ok with this and think he should lose his job and go to jail. And I'm pretty sure there is a larger percentage of people in Europe who WOULD be ok with this behavior than you think.
Unfortunately the majority of people who go into law enforcement seem to be quite authoritarian. They seem to enjoy breaking the law while enforcing their own personal version of it, with impunity. I have lived in Europe but never had an interaction with law enforcement, but I would doubt that they are all angels in Europe. I think it's a matter of degree. Europe has had plenty of experience with fascism. Just because it's America's turn doesn't make Europe immune to it.
Can the FBI order the NYPD to stand down? Do they have to follow the order?
Because if that's true I'm going to have to go back and see if Biden's DOJ actually DID witch hunt Trump. I was under the assumption that his felony convictions were brought by the state of New York, through a grand jury of actual people and the convictions were rendered by a jury of actual people and that it was ALL New York. No federal government involved. Can anyone comment on that?
I think the majority are against it. Unfortunately, there is as long history of minorities leading and oppressing majorities.
And just to clarify, I'm not referring to minorities like blacks or hispanics. I mean like rich, old, white guys. Or MAGA in the Republican party. Or whites in apartheid. That sort of thing. The majority of Americans didn't vote this in, the majority of VOTERS did.
I think people conflate corporate and private landlords. An individual landlord is not going keep his rental empty to drive up prices because he can't afford the rent loss. Also renters are not angels. They can create so much work and stress for a landlord that he'll wish he was mowing lawns. That renter may be the breadwinner for his landlord but the fact is, if he doesn't pay,, the landlord will lose the rental and the renter will be on the street. The reality is, you're not going to get free rent no matter how much you want communism to give it to you. Better to pay it to an individual that you might be able to reason with, than a corporation that will refuse to. It's all a matter of degree. But yeah go ahead and downvote because all landlords are evil.
