It was French and Italian jet pilots who escorted the Ethiopian Airlines plane hijacked by its co-pilot safely to Geneva airport on Monday morning in february this year – because, at 6.02am, it was still nearly two hours before the Swiss air force came to work.
“Switzerland cannot intervene because its airbases are closed at night and on the weekend,” spokesman Laurent Savary told AFP.

Regarding reading on trains, planes etc. For some reason, eating regular (so gluten) dough pizza before travel, allows me to literally read under turbulence on a plane. Otherwise, I would be puking my guts out. Don’t know why, but it works better than any pill.

I think they didn’t. That’s more of a recent development. I’ve read beginning 2000‘s China was almost on par in semi conductors with Taiwan and US. Thanks to Chinese libs who (in opposition to Marxists) convinced the leadership, the US would never hurt their own economy so much, just to stop China from developing, China dropped the ball on semiconductors, which turned out to be a very costly mistake for China.
