  • It still is that way, it just depends on what kind of content you engage with. People on reddit/lemmy LOVE to hate on short form video content but it isn't inherently destructive or evil IMO., it just depends on how you interact with it.

  • Funnily enough, you used as an example the only new feature I actually like and rely on. I use it for things like PWs for shared service accounts (dont @ me, I know it's bad practice and our org does have a pw manager but these accounts aren't managed by it and I am not in control of them)

    Also useful for things that are needed temporarily but I dont know how long that 'temporary' is going to be.

  • I'm not saying we shouldn't do more, but there are plenty of ongoing protests. Just because you don't see them in the news everyday didn't mean they aren't happening. Minneapolis, Portland, LA, DC and more all have protests that have been more or less ongoing since the shit hit the fan in their respective areas. The difference between this country and Franve can't be understated im terms of geographic size and population density. It is MUCH harder to sustain protests when we're all so spread out compared to am entire country the size of Texas.

  • Yeah all that is kind of a moot point anyway when there's 15 flock cameras tracking you all the way from home to protest location.

    But i also think it depends on the aims of a protest. If it's to gather a large crowd and march/chant/just be a presence I don't think worrying about being identified is with too much since like you said it's kind of the point. If there goal is a little more subsersive I can see taking those precautions. I've recently read in to a bit of the Hong Kong protests and one of the things they did that was effective was to constantly group up and erect barricades etc and then sort of disband and meet up elsewhere. So the sort of "good trouble" that people might feel the need to cause in the near future as things progress could definitely require a bit more OpSec.

  • Which IME almost no one does. If you're already going to be interacting with a server solely through a CLI, why not just use Linux on the first place.

  • That's not really how Windows servers work. Most large enterprises are likely going to be using WSUS or other patch management for updates where you can choose exactly which patches you want and when to do them. Those updates do almost always require reboots, but again you can schedule those reboots at a time of your choosing.
