I have a couple of neighborhood dogs that I wish death upon. The reality is that I hate the people more for not doing something about it. Both the dog and owner are ruining a peaceful day, so you can’t feel too bad.

2·15 days agoNo disagreement there at all. I should have started with the oats don’t start out gluten free instead.
Personally, I do know a couple people who had reactions when they first came out. For me it was enough risk to say no to them, plus, I didn’t eat Cheerios to begin with.
I just didn’t trust their method of removing the gluten from the oats, it sounded like there was room for errors in the process.
I’m not sure if you are aware, but Cheerios aren’t actually gluten free. They use some crazy process to blow the gluten off of the oats with air… When I first read about it I decided I wasn’t going to try them. Since then, I believe the gluten free claim was removed in Canada.
If your family doesn’t have symptoms or feel ok after eating them, maybe they are comfortable with the risk.
1·17 days agoIt was a blog written by a young guy who had an amazing ability to put his struggles into words. I was an angry/sad teenager at the time and reading his blog made me feel like I wasn’t the only one. I hope he’s out there and doing ok. He loved the band Sloan and his family.
I’ve tried a few times to find a trace of his blog, and no such luck.

The click of death problem when these first came out did them in. They got off to a hobble with so much bad press about it nobody wanted to rely on them. Also, they were not cheap.
4·3 months agoI would agree with you that Germany was always just using the pact as a means of buying time. Either way, it’s a fuck up of the highest order.
It’s not the exact same situation, but Germany attacking the Soviet Union in 1941 when they already had the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact in place is a pretty colossal blunder. We don’t know what might have happened if Hitler hadn’t done that, but it was the biggest oof I’ve heard of.
1·4 months agoWell there is that, but Afghanistan has mountains and Vietnam has jungle…I wasn’t sure if those three are comparable obstacles.
Why I think they will lose.

Not that size is the only determination of possible victory, but it looks like Iran might be harder to take and hold due to it’s size.

24·6 months agoThe best part about all these articles is that the Americans talk about how much they love Canadians. When it comes down to it though, they just love the dollars. There is nothing else they refer to loving about them in the articles from what I’ve seen.
My favorite part:
Border town officials say there’s a range of reasons why Canadians aren’t heading south anymore — from the weak exchange rate compared to the U.S. dollar, to the lack of consumer carbon tax making gas a little bit cheaper up north.
No mention of the threat of arrest, disappearance, being shot, etc.
