  • The Internet was a bubble, the Internet literally revolutionized how we communicate with each other and is far more of groundbreaking and influential invention than AI.

    And the dotcom bubble popped. Just because it's a bubble doesn't mean the thing is useless, AI is no different. It will pop, and AI will stay, but the bubble will pop regardless. This is just the nature of shoveling obscene amounts of money into companies promising the next big thing.

  • When the AI bubble pops RAM prices will fall back, but they'll never be as low as they were before AI. AI is going nowhere, it's not quite like the Internet but it's still got its uses. So I think you'll see RAM prices fluctuate with an overall positive slope after the bubble pops.

    The days of cheap RAM are over for the most part.

  • I'm sorry that you and your family are going through this, this is a genuinely terrifying situation to be in and you're not overreacting by going to the police or taking this guy seriously.

    Considering your logistics, you should look into getting a firearm if you don't have one already. It also doesn't hurt to put in a police report like others suggested. One thing I haven't seen suggested itt: if there are people in your family that are too young for school/daycare or SAHW you need to think about having a contingency plan for them in case you're at work. This could be anything from an escape route if someone gets into the house to having neighbors show up at a phone call (or leaving family with them).

    In what ways has it changed? I agree that Russians will inevitably favor communism over capitalism, but I just don't see it manifesting without another revolution. In the end of the day, Putin is a neoliberal.

    The article repeatedly states that the Russian liberal opposition operates almost entirely in exile. I am aware that Putin regularly dominates elections, but I am curious of the liberal opposition's popularity. Has it been growing in recent years, or has the war in Ukraine destroyed whatever appeal they had in the eyes of Russians?

    Would appreciate a Russian's view of the situation, but happy to hear other's as well.

    Calling it a "displacement" when it lead to the total ethnic removal of a group of people is actually trying to mislabel what everyone (except you) understands happened.

    Genocides include: killing, rape, and displacement. All of which happened in the nakba. Genocide is when you want to remove people from a land by means of displacement and murder based entirely on the identity of the victims.

    People get displaced due to wars and natural disasters; we don't call those genocides because there is no fucking desire to destroy/remove an entire group of people based on their identity.

    Genocide= people are being killed and removed because of their race/religion/ethnicity

    I cannot explain it any simpler, if you still don't understand then you're either stupid, rotten, or some combination of the two.
