  • Steam Hosted Malware Game that Stole $32,000 from a Cancer Patient Live on Stream

  • Plavnieks had installed a game called BlockBlasters, a 2D platformer listed on Steam that launched July 31, 2025 to a small audience who’d given it positive reviews. But the game was a scam and an August patch injected malware into the game that was meant to scan a user’s hard drive for data and, ultimately, their crypto. BlockBlasters is no longer listed on Steam and has been flagged as malicious by the independent Steam archiving site SteamDB. Valve did not respond to 404 Media’s request for comment.

  • I’ve been daily driving Endeavour OS for a few months now and it’s great. It’s Arch based so there is a learning curve but it’s worth getting over the hump.

  • I had to do the same thing. Email them with your invoice as proof of purchase. It took about a week but they did eventually get back to me.

    It’s a Ubisoft Launcher code though. Haven’t tried running the launcher on Linux yet.

  • Played it at launch on PC and finished it, think I spent about 30 or so hours. It is a very enjoyable game. It’s visually beautiful, traversal is fun and fluid, and the combat can be tricky but never hard enough to put me off. Always felt rewarding to get a good run of clean stealth kills. Story I can take or leave, but I don’t play that style of game for the story. I don’t believe you will miss anything having not seen the movies.

    Got a bit samey towards the end as most of these open world style games do. I’ll be revisiting it for the DLC for sure.

    If you enjoyed FarCry 3 or 4 (or just enjoy that “conquer the map by capturing the base” style gameplay) I say it is worth picking up. The only downside (on PC) is the Ubi launcher. Could really do with a steam release.

  • Been using XPipe for a few months to simplify my server management and it’s been great, worth every penny to nearly manage/remember the various servers and VMs I need to connect to. Keep up the great work.

    One thing (I haven’t tried it in a few days): does opening a connection from a saved bookmark still open three or four of the same terminal windows in rapid succession? It’s very annoying but not a dealbreaker.
