I’m not trying to call out any particular Christian. The whole point of this post is that I get mad when people pretend that all the nasty shit in Christianity is just in the old testament and not in the new testament. I wanted to show that it runs trough the whole book

I think I misunderstood what you were trying to say here. I thought you were saying that because so many people believed that there is no point in a post like this criticizing it. I don’t think I’m understanding the point you’re trying to make and I don’t think I’m doing a good job with the point I want to make here

Christianity is just very personal to me as I was raised in a Christian household. I was home schooled and thought young Earth creationism and other such bullshit

I was denied the ability to transition after I came out to my parents because of Christianity. I could have started HRT at 16 when I came out but instead I had to at 22 after getting free of my family. Christianity and the bigotry based in it has forever caused me pain

I never said every Christian 100% believed everything in the Bible. What I’m saying is that the Bible is an evil book and people shouldn’t believe a religion based off of it

It’s not cherry picking when the Bible restates these ideas over and over again, these are far from the only homophobic verses in the Bible

I wasn’t saying that you were not criticizing it, I was saying that the number of people who believe it has no bearing on if it should be criticized or not

I get why people like Christianity, I was raised in a Christian house and was one for the majority of my life. I get how an all powerful loving god is a comforting ideal. But I think it’s wrong, it’s has bigotry baked into it and it’s based off of lies. People should find their comfort elsewhere instead of this backwards religion that has done so much harm to the world and is still continuing to cause harm

If that cope includes bigotry than it’s a bad cope and people should find some other way to cope that doesn’t hurt other people

Why? What good is there? Jesus said like a couple nice things but you don’t need Jesus to be kind to other people, I don’t see any value under the bigotry that someone can’t just get somewhere else

Liberation theologies

I think a blood vessel in my brain bursts every time someone brings this up. Liberation theology doesn’t even come close to making up for all the terrible shit done in the name of Christianity

The Bible (including the New Testament) is also pro slavery

Colossians 3:22

“Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God.”

There are several verses explicitly telling slaves to not rise up against their masters. If you are anti-slavery then you are at odds with the Bible
