  • Maybe I'm wrong here but to me it feels like they become less human..

Oof, try not to do that. De-humanizing a people is a slippery slope.

If you look at the rhetoric spewed by our president-elect and his flunkies, you can see where many Americans (at least 77m) get their marching orders. Unfortunately, the rest of us are just left to deal with this bad rap because of it. A lot of it comes from, as others said, propaganda in the media - distraction techniques, obfuscation, identity politics - because it sells. This, of course, also stems from our obsession with capitalism - letting the market and million/billionaires do whatever they want because it’s “good for the economy”. We haven’t matured enough to know that what’s good for the worker is good for the economy (or more insidious theories of this being done purposefully to keep us in “survival mode”).

Many of us who are not as you describe are moving out - a sort-of “vote with your wallets” of what country we support. However, not everyone has the ability to do that, and still others have a desire to fix this country. So, don’t paint Americans with such a broad brush because there are many of us who look at those you are speaking of with shame and disgust.

  • The town I live in now has not.

  • I needed to fill the medicine boxes for me and my partner, and I had a few bottles of medicines I just got that I needed to put in, so I’m carrying them down the stairs, one of the bottles falls out of my hand, lands like a wheel on a stair, I step on it, and I fall down 3 stairs. My butt and elbow hurt and I was so mad. 😡

    This was yesterday, btw.

  • What was he trying to say?

  • this is far from a modern disease, and notes a T-Rex skeleton showing signs of dying from the same disease!

    Wow, that is wild!

  • How long will the treatment take?

  • Underfly

  • I think it’s the Parasocial relationship thing. They chat with their fans, or pay people to chat with their fans pretending it’s them.

  • I appreciate it, but I’m going to move soon and I won’t be able to take it with me, but maybe someone else will see this and you’ll get some offers.

  • Love these!! Jellyfish are a fav of mine! I would have loved to have one!

  • Purely for fashion reasons, I assure you! 😅

  • Do you have more pics? I want to see more!

  • to me this just sounds like social media passing the buck to their users with no regard for accuracy.

    And for free, no less!

  • Can you direct me to something that substantiates this? Did he write that he didn’t want to hurt anyone? From what I’ve read of his stuff, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was just that dumb.

  • It’s kind of sad really but, in a way, heartening? Like if we could break them of their stupid brainwashing, they could be real comrades? Though, I don’t think we can so it’s only sad.

  • “Soldier who died in cybertruck”

I like how they’re not calling him a terrorist becaus he:

    • Failed
    • Is a soldier

Also, I like how there’s no implication that he tried to blow up said cybertruck, he was just killed in it. 🙃

  • I always wondered this, so I’m glad you made a topic about it. I noticed an invidious link in a post I made was broken, and I started thinking that the broken link thing might be a problem going forward, especially for the longevity of a post’s life. I do hate YouTube and I’m happy to hear that me sharing a YouTube link is usually not giving them website traffic or user info because of the actions of other lemmys. Thanks for this post!
