God I tried SO HARD to like that book. Liked the show growing up because Legend of The Seeker is campy and weirdly ABC channel sexy (blond leather ladies touching you with Pain Dildos, essentially) but it was just trash.
The main character, by all means, should be the least knowledgeable and probably the least 'wise' character, but in comes Richard educating the Men of Mud on proper government structures and how their primitive tribal society was stupid and the way they made decisions was dumb.
And you're right, don't get me started on the confessors and how anyone with eyes wants to get bent over the table by the protagonist within minutes of meeting him.
They're saying the average British citizen isn't in the business of portraying the rest of Europe unfavorable so much as foreign (and domestic) financial influence pushes those topics to drive the average british citizen to agree with those standpoints.
It'd be silly to think it's ONLY domestic rich assholes are making waves when we know GLOBAL rich assholes like to play in everyone's pond.
Yeah I'm reeling at the phrase 'MAGA lesbians'. Just a wild concept that, unfortunately, doesn't surprise me like it used to. My dad went from a pro-union man who moved out of West Virginia and despised the coal mines and their benefactors to sucking MAGA hose water by the gallon. Used to roll his eyes at trickle down economics and called my mother a moron for voting for Bush.
I wish you the best and hope the cult ends with a peaceful and disappointing fizzle (and anyone in charge/positions of power or authority gets the old testament treatment they've been begging for others) and that everyone gets their loved ones back that want them back
Thank you for this comparison. That's a fun one and one that's made a little more 'subtle' in the US if only because of how common that language is among the populace in regions and how pervasive protestantism is in advertising/messaging.
I feel that. My family is from the south, and then they moved to a shitty midwest state, brought all their racist bullshit with them. I just stopped going to events, changing my number today even to avoid the texts and calls from people who already know why I don't talk to them. So far, none of them able-to-be/worth saving, maybe some little cousins but I can't exactly reach them.
But why do you despise it? I've heard criticism for Americans taking 'American' when there are many many more countries in The Americas and have yet to see the term above until now, but it doesn't bother me any.
Why is it that if he's a dumb young 20 he can't gain any intelligence? Why is the line I keep seeing from people "well he didn't know at the time, and that's damning enough", like, do you know anyone who has ever signed up for the military at 18-25 to bd 'smart' or informed?
Thank you for this. I gave it a good (confusing) read, they could stand to type in less capitals.
I can see the regulations outlined, but not that he was turned away for it being a known nazi symbol or anything based on that description, it sounds like he got a tattoo without clearing it or reporting it on his paperwork and chose not to appeal, based on his words there in the reddit post.
I appreciate you finding that for me, it was hard to parse all the google garbage
Thanks anyway! Yeah military jargon and acronyms out the ass go hand in hand and any manager that's a vet I've worked for just tosses them around like 'sentence enhancers'.
If you know about MARADMIN, can you elaborate on what he means? I looked it up and understand it as a kind of code of conduct, but don't see what changed in 2007, just that he said a USMC based tattoo was what prevented him.
Can you give a source on that or a general direction on where to look? I've heard about the tattoo and looked into it during the initial controversy and did not find that information at the time.
Low millions, like your net worth in your 60s when you own a home, potentially two cars, and a retirement fund. 1-4 million? Sure, not rich, well off by most standards.
Closing in on thay double digit millions? Yeah you're rich. Hell, in most of the US, having a net worth of 7 million dollars is the 'eccentric millionaire' level for most of rural America.
I don't know, psychopathic tendencies run all over the Reynolds family.
Lack of empathy, a pattern of manipulating others, persistent antisocial behaviors (the DENNIS system, most of the gang's plans), an innate immunity to stress (like when he just willed his stress away in the 'mental health day' episode)
We don't 'punish and make an example' out of children in civilized society.
We educate them, allow for reform. Until the child has a mostly formed prefrontal cortex, they shouldn't receive 'adult' type consequences. They literally are not developed enough mentally to grasp all of life's rights and wrongs. That's not to say they don't have a gauge of morality, or some concept of what they think Right is, it's just not all the way fleshed out and their poor stupid neuron-developing brain doesn't fire the way it's going to later in life.
Kinda thing's almost not worth thinking about
