Thirty PKK fighters, including women, began disarming today near Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, in a symbolic ceremony marking the group’s shift from armed struggle to politics.
Turkey welcomed the move as a “point of no return” toward peace. Fighters destroyed their weapons in front of a crowd, praising it as a “historic democratic step.”
They are expected to return to their mountain bases. Meanwhile, Kurdish authorities reported two drones were downed near Peshmerga sites overnight.
