    The Truth

    Jump
  • I assume you mean 60+ to break filibuster.

And weren't a lot of them solid conservatives too (not like Manchin, further right)? Hence why pro-choice laws were never solidified.

  • I'm worried that if someone doesn't like my thoughts on certain individuals, they could go to my employer and get me fired or targeted.

ABC is a Democrat funding organization and they suspended him for (accurately) saying that the right was trying to find someone to blame before having all the facts and then showing an unedited clip of Trump.

If that's the bar, we're all fucked. So yeah, I took it VERY FUCKING PERSONALLY that I could be fired for accurately describing current events like people being killed, assaulted, or tortured because it's considered inflammatory. In addition to that, network TV is about to get a lot more right-wing and a lot less honest for the sake of centrism. So I want people with an audience to be able to tell the truth about invasions in our own damn country.

The response has been the demand free speech and, for me, it has been a rare bright spot recently.

  • What hasn't been working? Giving talking space to right wing extremists and withholding context instead of unbridled information due to fears of being considered partisan. But I doubt that's what they're going to be fixing.

  • The right-leaning news station is about to embrace right-wing tabloid journalism.

Are there any news stations that are actually unbiased and honest, even if it means they will be labeled as having liberal-bias? I have to listen to actually liberal/left biased content to get full context without sugar coating things for the sake of appearing unbiased.

  • I'm just going to say I think the first and third examples are just not your taste. They're not badly executed. Stranger Things had a great first season, but they really couldn't nail it after that. It's kinda the Alien issue, switching more actiony after the first installment.

  • While the writer's strike had obvious effects on season 3 (RIP MIA Irish girl), it's not like season 2 was outstanding television either.

They really just had one good season worth of ideas.

  • The good: Gunplay was the best of new 343's Halo games. They made the Prometheans fun to fight. Warzone was the only good thing to come out of 343's multiplayers. The lootboxes which could be earned was better than infinite's paid season passes and expensive armor cores. They also had probably the only good iconic anything from the 343 games in the Guardians. On top of that, they had the best villain of the 343 games (evil Cortana).

The bad: They brought back Cortana after a amazing send off. The Didact never appears again despite having a teaser at the end of 4. Half the story is you playing a random Spartan chasing John for being "suspicious". The team dynamic isn't great and is leaned into. Warden Eternal SUCKS. And then he sucks again. And again. NO SPLIT SCREEN, AT ALL! No real Firefight, but none of 343's games have had real Firefight.

Anyways, infinite sucks and I wish it didn't exist. I'd rather have had a Halo 6 close out the Promethean story and do more with the Guardians.

  • Besides a lot of unnecessary changes that got rid of iconic moments from the game (or changed them to be less impactful or awkward), they diluted Ellie down heavily. In the game she's cold, calculated, and ruthless. In the show she's emotional. I think they tried to keep more of the old Ellie's personality.

Aside from that, Tommy's role from the game is completely erased, which was a massive eye-opening context for pre-TLOU Joel, especially for Dina. Not that it's new information as much as witnessing it.

It's just disappointing because they did such a good job with season 1. And Bella Ramsey has gotten a lot of flak for bad writing.

  • I don't mind changes to fit the medium. The Last of Us Season 1 did a great job of making changes that made sense. Season 2 fundamentally changed a character from the game and was widely considered a bad move.

Just, they need to quit making changes to the reason these characters are popular.

  • I'm not aware of any models like that. At the end of CE, Chief takes it off himself. It might be because in some of the later games they show them using a machine to remove the armor. But I think that's more for convenience since the armor is heavy AF.

  • He can take it off, actually. He does so at the very end of Halo Combat Evolved. And he gets a new set of armor in Halo 2. I think at the end of 5 you even see his eyes.

But he doesn't take it off for the entirety of the events on Halo. None of the downtime. Because the mission is still active until his escape. It makes uncomfortable to be out of his armor.

Compare that with most of Noble 6, in some cases to their detriment.

  • OG Chief is explicitly the most reserved and tactical of all the Spartans. Part of the charm is that he's robotic, ironically less human-like than his AI companion. He always keeps his helmet on in the slightest danger, because he's mission first.

Not only that, the rest of the Spartans can get very chatty and personal. They could have resold the story with some changes. Have a team find Halo instead of just him. Show Reach. Cover UNSC Circumference. Have Chief be Chief.

  • Thanks! I actually just bought one of the those that are delisting soon a couple nights ago. So that makes me feel better. I'll have to go through this first list tonight.

  • It absolutely isn't a legal defense. You're right.

I'm saying it should be legal. Starting now, since digital is a standard. Nintendo needs to put it out or let people share it. They can have 10 years (or the highest of 5 years from now/10 years from when it was last available). Something like that.

The TV movie standard of everything being available should be the video game standard.

  • I think there's a difference between unavailable and limited availability.

There are some old games that may never come back. In many cases, there's no agreed owner. Imagine if something became public domain after a short period of no use (5 years, 10 years maybe).

  • There are a bunch of Marvel games that are exactly like this.

Somewhat related. I tried to watch Guava Island, which was apparently only made available for Amazon for a limited time, then it just disappeared.

I think it should be legal to download or stream any of that stuff that's no longer available.

  • And the songs will start to become unavailable to purchase over the next 9 years. I guess it's a good reminder for me to buy all the songs I want to get.

  • Even if it was, you're allowed to be opposed to something in the constitution. That's why we have amendments.

  • Very interesting. My wife and I started season 5 and realized we never watched the last 2 episodes of season 4. So, we're right there with you on it.

Season 5 is about the same. It's an easy show to watch, and it's nice that they're 30 minutes. They're all charming. But a lot of the later episodes have been forgettable.
