  • It's not the stupidest timeline because in that one everyone's happy because everyone's stupid. The problem is that you're smart and too many people with power aren't. After so many decades of living alongside news media empires, who make money if we're all terrified, I take everything with a pinch of salt now.

    I automatically ignore any headline, for example, that asks a question in the subject line and doesn't answer it unless you read the article. Also, any article that uses hyperbolic phrases like "This is the end of..." or "

    <insert name>

    slams/eviscerates/destroys

    <insert name>

    with tweet/article/report".

    Also, any headline with ridiculous numbers in it like "Eighty million people will be homeless by winter" or "The average human is filled with 5 kilos of micro plastics!". I even ignore headlines that promise good news, if they use the same tricks, like "New, cheap, easily mass produced chemical discovered that can fix climate change!".

    It's kind of a new brain muscle for me but now my first impulse when I read any headline is to assume it's not true and then see if anything else comes along to suggest otherwise. Take all that BS, for example, about the 2000 foot deep chambers apparently discovered under the pyramids that just appeared in everyone's newsfeed. Didn't take long for that to get debunked.

    Basically, I just assume all this is fiction until it's corroborated by several dependable sources. The reality of the state of the world is almost certainly not what is being put in front of us. It might be worse or it might be better but it's almost certainly not what they say it is.

  • For me it's an essential tool that puts food on the table and pays my bills. I understand it's not for everyone but I think some people are too dismissive of it for reasons that don't make much sense to me. It's a great way to connect with prospects and nurture customers. It's an excellent, free, reliable social media platform and, unlike Facebook, it isn't full of ads and pictures of people's food or holiday snapshots. It seems fashionable to shit on it for some people but I think that's more ignorance than anything else.

  • I remember even TheTechnician27 tried to warn us "it's going to be zero day heaven!" they said but everyone just shrugged and now here I am with my fellow refugees in the woods trying to catch some squirrels for my dinner.

  • I remember it so clearly man... The morning of October 15 2025, a Wednesday as I recall. People were warned but they didn't listen. They don't ever listen.

    I'll never forget the screaming. Millions of Windows 10 computers just spontaneously exploding all over the place. Women, children and men with beards running down the streets of every city just trying to avoid the thousands of computers being thrown from the tops of buildings. The world was never the same after that. I found an abandoned bus in the chaos so I tried to save as many people as I could. We rode into the night towards the hills. Away from the cities and the looting and chaos.

    Or you know... it just means no updates and we'll all probably be fine.

  • Reminder that people like Atrioc, who make videos that are going to piss off a lot of rich and powerful people, are going to be subject to intense scrutiny of everything they do so they can be discredited if needed.

  • Absolutely, I have a board for work and one for home. I use the work one a lot more though. I'm also very visual so to be able to add a picture of someone's face or the bit of the house I need to work on really makes it stand out.

  • I just use 6 lists and I grab and move cards along them from left to right. My lists are very simple:

    Would be nice to do Need to do Doing today 🎉 Done today Completed in the last 4 weeks To be archived

    I only use 2 automation rules. One rule to move new cards to the top of the list I created them in and a second rule to automatically move cards along the last 3 lists depending on how long they've been there.

    It's been life changing for me. I don't get side-tracked anymore cos I can just dump whatever it is into one of the lists on my pc or my phone. It's also really helpful that I can put a "Due by:" date that gradually changes from yellow to red as the deadline approaches.

  • Trello 100% fixed that for me. Also, as someone who NEEDS my little dopamine reward whenever I do a task I found a little trick. If you put the 🎉 (party horn emoji) in the title of a list it blows a bunch of confetti over the screen whenever you drag a task into that list 😁

  • One of these things is not like the others.

  • 2 day old account.

  • "You're playing the male lead in a homage to William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and you're late for the dress rehearsal. Do you think this is a sufficient reason to travel at 48 in a 30 zone?"

  • Yes.

  • Thank you. Just posted there as well :)

  • Incredible. Watching him build, tweak and adjust and also just constantly come up with brilliant problem solves. I don't know anything about engineering but this was so much fun to watch :)

  • Trauma

  • There's a relationship cheat code I use all the time. It usually stops everything in it's tracks and sets you on a much more positive path, especially if they're not used to you doing this. When you find yourself at that point in a conversation where you're about to shout something like "OH FFS! WHAT'S THE MATTER NOW?!" instead... you pause, look at them, tilt your head a bit, narrow your eyes thoughtfully and say as calmly as you can "What do you need?". No matter how mad they get after that you just keep asking that question until they respond to it. If you haven't done that before it may take them a while to even notice you asked that question. Just keep going. Oh also top tip... when they tell you what they need don't invalidate it. It's hard for a lot of people to directly tell you what they actually need. If they do then they're trusting you to listen. Breaking that trust will take you right back to square one.

  • The first few galettes I ate as a child back in the 70's I remember the fèves were quite large. Then as I suppose they went into more mass production they seemed to just use these small white plastic vaguely human shapes, like a tiny white plastic opaque jelly baby shape. In those days no one much cared about choking hazards in food. There were still coins in Christmas puddings for example. I always thought it was weird to put objects in food (even if the fève had the power to make you "King" for a day 😁)

    Side note, this is why Kinder eggs are banned in the US because they contain a "non-nutritive object" that could be a choking hazard.

  • That looks so amazing but as someone who grew up in France it also gives me anxiety wondering if I'll choke on the "Feve". I imagine it must be illegal to hide those bloody things in the galette these days. I hope so!

  • It's crazy the amount of AI image and video generators popping up right now that are "free" if you would just be a sweetie and give them your email address. I had one recently that only allowed gmail, presumably to make it harder for people to just use an anti spam inbox. People just don't realise how valuable a fresh, active email address is. If I see anything like that these days I nope out immediately.
