  • That's why there are parking lots next to rural train stations, at least here in Germany.

    But it doesn't make sense to put lots of parking spaces next to a train station right inside a city because there are so many better usages of that space in a city center.

  • Hydrogen is definetly harder to store than ammonia and it takes a lot of energy to compress or liquify it.

    And I certainly don't want commercial nuclear ships, because companies will just create "independent" companies that will "mysteriously" go bankrupt once a ship reaches end of life and needs to be decontaminated.

    So the taxpayer would have to pay for the decomissioning costs.

  • Star Trek isn't hard sci fi, as long as it isn't completely ridiculous the writers will alter devices to fit the plot.

    So if the writers can just make things fit the story, I don't see why we can't do the same. After all, it wouldn't be weird if a larger device has a larger storage capacity as well.

  • I don't think that the money that an industry gets represents it's value to society, not even close. I don't think that a CEO brings 1000 times more value than a normal worker.

    What I really see happening is that every industry tries to take as much of everyones money as they can and if they are in a position where they can force us to do it, they will.

    There is no fair wage distribution, not even among white men.

    Women earning less money is just one of the symptoms in this ever more broken system where big corporations control more and more of our everyday lives.

  • I don't think banking should be paid as highly as it does, but mine workers earn so much because they literally risk their lives at work.

    The reason why bankers earn so much probably is because they work with huge amounts of money, so it's easier for them to demand a cut of it.

    Aber zu fordern, dass man sich ein 4 Stunden Video anguckt, nur um die Argumentationsweise von einem random Lemmyer zu verstehen, ist ein bisschen too much.

    Man muss ja auch erstmal Zeit dafür haben und wenn das jeder auf Lemmy verlangen würde, käme man ja zu gar nichts mehr.

    It's just that they now somehow manage to loose after having already won.

  • Go ahead, visit China and talk to anyone you see about how much you don't like Xi Jinping, maybe even compare him with Winnie the Pooh. Especially helpful if you do that to government officials.

    Then, if you still can, visit Russia and go around telling people you are gay and that the war has to stop.

    But, yeah, the US is also slowly working it's way out of the list of free democratic countries, no question about that, I am lucky to live in Europe for that reason.
