Send me bad puns. Good puns welcome too.

  • This has always been the case for the third world.

  • What they need is to remove the cancer that is Trump billionaires by carving him them out.

Don't let "good" billionaires convince you the problem is just Trump.

  • It is, but not all change is positive change. The replacement could be fascism, or US vassals (setting the stage for Islamic Republic 2.0), or literally anything other than a healthy democracy, and a war of national survival does not at all bode well for the latter possibility. There is such a thing as good conditions and bad conditions for democracy.

  • I mean true but save for some weird decisions (something something bag men) that strictly goes under the war part; I can forgive the Bolsheviks for not pulling punches while fighting literal fascists, and they did address the problem as soon as they knew about it. War communism didn't need to be as brutal or as far-reaching as it was, but for the most part it was an acceptable play in a terrible situation.

  • On the third hand: This is not paving the way for positive change in Iran, if anything Khamenei just became a martyr and his successor will be more powerful.

  • I expanded on it a bit more in the other reply chain, but the point is: The US has been an imperialist colonial state waging wars of aggression for basically all of its history; first it went after the native Americans (and Mexicans), then it set its sights on Latin America and now it's trying to subjugate the whole post-colonial world. This means America has a very long track record doing absolutely evil shit abroad and Americans have a very long track record absolutely failing to stop (in many cases even cheering on) said evil shit. I could list out this evil shit, but any American who paid attention in highschool history should know what I'm talking about, and either way countries don't occupy continents from shore to shore through the power of love. Point being: Given this long history and without evidence to the contrary, it's downright folly to expect Americans to do much if anything to hold back their current war of aggression in Iran. Most will support it, most of the rest won't do anything and the people trying to do something will fail because they'll find no takers (or due to cowardice).

  • Rot in hell fucking vassal states.

  • So you have no response to my argument and can only respond with ad hominem. Noted and fuck you.

  • Okay Stalin was just a dipshit but most people you're counting against Lenin died in circumstances legitimately out of his control (the civil war and the famine resulting thereof). He was still a dipshit, but not a mass murdering dipshit.

  • Wtf that's a typo. That should've been "250 of US foreign policy."

There have also been a couple of world wars that the US has assisted in in the past 250 years that I would consider success stories, it wasn't just Vietnam and Iraq.

How should getting into two particular wars on the other side of the world (the former of which a fight between equally shitty dipshits) convince me that Americans can stop their government from getting into wars on the other side of the world? The fact that you consider US entry into WWI to be a good thing (WWII being an exception, though with reservations) does nothing but prove my point; that was an elites' war through and through.

  • if you think there's been nothing significant achieved by American citizens against the government over the past 250 years.

As I very clearly said in my comment, I'm specifically talking about US foreign policy (aka imperialism), and historically the best Americans have been able to do is make their military leave after bombing everything to the ground. Maybe you have a different idea but I don't consider Iraq or Vietnam to be success stories for the American public, and again those are the very best Americans have been able to do.

  • Death to Fatah and death to America.

  • There are millions of Americans trying to organize against this shit.

To no effect if the last checks notes 250 years or US foreign policy are any indication.

  • Or, you know, the oil and related lobbies are at it again.

  • Um... why?

  • Sincerely, who gives a fuck about the legality of it? Would these people be happy if Congress had voted for it before they bombed brown people in the Middle East for the umpteenth time?

  • The strikes on the Houthis did, at some level, have some restraint compared to this shit.

Like that residential building y'all bombed to get that Houthi guy hanging out with his girlfriend? Whatever restraint was exercised in the Houthi bombings was strictly performative; the real difference between these two cases is the possibilities of US boots on the ground.

  • By "win" I mean "survive without regime change" (which automatically implies dealing enough damage that they're left alone). Even that is far from guaranteed.
