It’s not hate reading, it’s loving honesty. The article frames the story as an anti-government civil liberty issue, and the community is letting blind rage at the mention of a car create a blind spot over self-defeating libertarianism.

“terminal car-brain” 😂 you guys’ll pathologize anything
Dear Santa, for Christmas this year I want a deck of Internet meme psychology tarot cards. The Narcissist. The Gas Lighter. The Driver. I have not been a good boy, thank you for understanding.
Angry, vindictive Internet dwellers love to identify with the left while arguing on behalf of libertarians. So long as Somebody On The Other Side is getting punished the specifics of self responsibility and internal consistency don’t matter too much.
Counterpoint: grow up and learn to say no to your 15 year old self. “I’m just a kid and life is a nightmare!” is only a waypoint on the path to maturity, and immaturity is poorly disguised by pleas to “please somebody think of the children!” Children are welcome to have all their own thoughts and feelings, but having thoughts and feelings doesn’t entitle or qualify anybody to amplify them into leadership and policy.
Life on an island applies pressure to compromise. Lemmy emerged comprised of those who wanted out specifically not to have to compromise. I think the federation concept will serve to reinforce isolated thought bubbles, and a platform migratory pattern will emerge as people crave a return to society and then an escape to their own private beaches. There’s a maturing period to grow through for sure, though.
Disagreement? In this echo chamber?? No nuance, netizen! Back in line!
Hawaiian pizza was invented by a Greek man running an Italian pizzeria in Toronto inspired by the sweet and sour flavors of Chinese cuisine
If you can afford to pay cash then take the loan and invest the cash elsewhere, and if you can beat the interest on the loan then come back to write better financial advice than this. And even if you can’t you’d at least have done something interesting.
Devastation shocks the brain full of thoughts and feelings, navigating around the rocks takes courage
They’re not both right. Vile rhetoric sews division. Calling it out and appealing to humanity are acts of strength that bind us together.
The responses to this on the other post were the same, punitive and wrathful with no space left for critical thinking.
How many people shop online then consume media showing the impacts of climate change or reports of warehouse working conditions within the delivery window? How many “fuck cars” users also subscribe to gentle parenting content? How many were raised in Christian homes and currently hold negative views on religion generally?
I roast seasoned chickpeas for snacking like that. I’ll top pan fried chickpeas with leftover rice and carrot then let those steam up with the lid on. It helps contain popping beans too lol
Those sweet potatoes are close to Grandma Appalachia’s traditional preparation that she got from a recipe her Irish aunt tore out of a magazine back in the 70s, but hers included a hoppy beer to balance the hot sauce
The FOX standard 😂 news when it humiliates the opposition, levity in between
I’m still talking about standards of reporting, and pointing out that Internet culture tends to be especially vocal about truth and science while amplifying the same ol’ sensationalism and romanticism.
I’m not blaming, I don’t think the reporting is horny either. The concept is fascinating, if anything I’m horny for more of a middle ground between fluff and the original paper.
Standards for reporting on Internet forums are the same as for the grocery store tabloids that agitated the forum dwellers to begin with
What’s the “intimate detail”? The novelty I got here was the revelation of three instead of two proteins involved in this binding site. Is that “the” binding between the egg and sperm or is it a secondary/support linkage?
Weird trend across all platforms the last few years. In the days of broadcast media the FCC could regulate content. Then advertisers privatized the role. Then the Internet revived the free for all of public access. Then somebody worked some kind of Queen Victoria magic on content creators to get them to both write and visually bleep parts of words on behalf of the advertisers and publishers.
