  • The problem with this is that they would have to be suspicious in the first place to ask for it. If they are already suspicious then the scam will likely fail anyway, they tend to only really work when the assumption of who they are exists and they get that by raising stress levels by claiming some kind of emergency.

  • I use Quassel, it's been a few years since any major updates but it still works great. I like that it has a server+client model that functions like a bouncer so you can move between machines without reconnecting to networks. It also allows all the configuration from the client's GUI so you don't have to remember commands to change anything.

  • I think any software the government funds the creation and maintenance of should be open source, but not all software government workers use should have to be. Lots of niche applications out there that wouldn't be worth the cost to rewrite or retrain a handful of users.

  • But what about the theory of the large throwing stone that states those tasty radiated cockroaches are my dinner and not yours?

  • um, isn't it easier to just:sudo apt install yt-dlpyt-dlp -U

  • I've read it twice and enjoyed it both times. It has some slow parts for sure, especially at the start, but it does setup the framework for how the characters view the outside world which I find really fascinating.

*Edit:I think it's easy to fall into the trap of thinking of them as monks who only follow faith and prohibit secular technology but the whole point is that they are enclaves of philosophers and mathematicians. It's like refusing to use a calculator in order to train your mind to better work with numbers. If you did that you wouldn't be confused by finally using a calculator, its use would be simple and obvious.

  • yeah, back when I used nvidia I had to run their driver installer or nothing would work right, and of course any little system update would bork everything until I ran the installer again. Thankfully everything with AMD just works now.

  • Debian. It wont win any awards for fastest release cycles but it's rock stable with great support for my Ryzen 2700 and 6700xt.

  • But what are the odds of having these issues? It's a bit disingenuous to tell a large audience that this is what they can expect if the reality is the problems may only effect one in a thousand.

  • A classic! I do also love Simon Swerwer's work on the official steam DF OST

  • To clarify there are several very popular online games with anti-cheat that will never work BUT there are also a ton of other multiplayer games that do work great. You aren't going to be stuck in single-player only moving to Linux, you'll just miss out on a handful of popular competitive games.

  • The only problem with this line of thinking is that it empowers bigots to continue to subvert any character or symbol they choose.I'd rather see those symbols used more often in ways that fight bigotry than to give in to that manipulation.

  • Given that they haven't exactly been bred for the highest intelligence I'd say a car going by on a rural road is still notable for them.

  • I was too young when I first saw this too. (I was in my 20s)

  • If you have trouble going to sleep then try falling asleep instead.

  • Even if you did find some way to fund and produce it, what corporate media empire is going to allow it on their network where more than a handful of people would ever see it?

  • You might only have ice-cold water during the spring if you're near a river that just flowed down from the mountains but even most well water is going to be much cooler than surface temperatures.

  • Ignorance is bliss?
