  • What is your most important tool?

  • A spudger, aka nylon probe tool aka “black stick”. I have them in drawers and toolboxes all over the place. Useful for working tiny plugs out of electronics and pressing, poking and scraping at things.

  • 3D design software for 3d printing?

  • I tend to open TinkerCAD to make simple things quickly. It’s web based so works on Mac/PC and free.

  • Getting a small chest freezer from a family member who just upgraded theirs. Tips on what to/how to store food?

  • We get the giant pork shoulders from Costco and cut them in to meal sized chunks and vacuum seal them along with lots of other stuff. I cut cardboard boxes to fit inside the chest freezer to partition meat and frozen fruits separately. Makes it easier to pull the box out and get what you need as well otherwise sometimes things can settle as one giant frozen block. Best deal on vacuum bags I’ve found is Amazon but be sure to read reviews. We got a box of them before that were so thick that the machine had a hard time sealing it.

  • Choosing my first printer is driving me mad.

  • I’ve been running a FlashForge Creator Pro for over 5 years now and have been super pleased with it. I haven’t had to replace anything aside from some TPU hoses to feed the filament in all this time, but the parts at least at the time were easy to obtain since the platform was shared by multiple manufacturers like qidi. I’ve done dual color prints maybe twice ever on it. I felt it wasted too much filament on the ooze wall and still has streaks, so instead I design my models to be different colored separate parts and either snap or glue together for a cleaner end product. I think the only real limitation it’s had is the small bed size. I’ve had to do a lot of multi part builds to make anything large.

  • What's the name of the processed vegan meat alternative you cam slice or cube and fry?

  • It doesn’t start with a P, but that sounds a lot like luncheon loaf. I buy the Unmeat brand by the case and use it that way. Sliced or cubed and fried with anything.

  • What movie did you see too young that still haunts you to this day?

  • Green Inferno. I’m a huge horror fan and am not bothered by gore, but man that cannibalism was so graphic I can’t shake the images.

  • Print refusing to stay flat in corners

  • What kind of filament are you using? I’ve had that trouble with ABS before and what worked for me was making a slurry of acetone and some scrap filament and painting it on the glass then adding a brim to the model in the slicer. With other filaments, it’s always been playing with the temps and using a brim in my experience.

  • You get new speakers or you start your music library from scratch. Which is the first song/album you play?

  • Big Tymers-Still Fly. It gets to a part where it goes “2 15’s didn’t see no wires, then I heard BOOM from the amplifier.” If the house/car doesn’t shake then it’s not enough bass.

  • What is a movie that "looks like" it would suck, but actually is well written and acted and a good time?

  • I loved Hudson Hawk. The story was bonkers, the musical numbers were entertaining and had a great ending.

  • This is true! I worked for Blockbuster Video when Titanic came out. I still to this day have to turn off that damn song when it comes on.

  • How can I get the clogged filament out of this heatblock and nozzle?

  • I’ve used the torch and cold pull methods successfully, but have had great luck with a cheap set of acupuncture needles from Amazon. I would pre-heat on the printer and just poke the needle in there a bit and feed filament through.

  • What games did you play New Game + on ?

  • Persona 5-It allowed me to do a much quicker play through without all of the grinding. Starfield-There were a bunch of new dialog options that were aware of you already playing through before, new gear and ship and ways to do things differently exclusively for new game plus. I hope other games start doing this.

    The last photo - who else got to spend final moments with your beloved cat?

  • Thank you! I’m not generally a sharing kind of person, but am touched by the empathy of cat lovers. She went blind then catatonic very suddenly. We took her to the vet when we realized she wasn’t coming back. We had waited too long with her sister and she died in pain. It was traumatic for us and committed to not letting that happen again. We work from home, so she was with us at all times. The vet was very compassionate about the whole ordeal. They saw us early without waiting and made her and us as comfortable as possible. Whenever I get up from the couch to go to bed at night, I reflexively walk to her spot to say goodnight still. It’ll be a while but we intend to get some kittens to fill the void.

    The last photo - who else got to spend final moments with your beloved cat?

  • Our 17 year old kitty passed a few weeks ago too. She went peacefully but it’s still painful for us. You don’t care for something that long without it affecting you. We went to a cat cafe connected to the humane society last week and donated her food and treats and spent time with the kittens. It really helped.
