  • Seems a bit patronizing to imply non-voters exist because of republican propaganda and not apathy caused by generations of being fucked over by politicians on both sides.

I'm not saying don't vote, or don't vote blue, but don't expect non-voters to give a fuck about what you have to say when you dismiss their concerns and imply they aren't voting because republicans tricked them.

  • Yes.

  • Fuck those people then. The democrats should not allow a small portion of the population to dictate something as important as climate policy.

The only way this argument makes any sense is if we assume the democrats are spineless and useless. Which they are, but still.

  • I don't buy it. It feels like these vague arguments are used against any progressive policy. "We can't tax the rich cause then they'll leave the country!"

If fossil fuel workers are so stubborn that they will refuse to vote for a party that wants to transition them into green energy jobs then their votes aren't worth it. If the democratic party allows the workers of a single industry to determine their climate policy then they are revealing themselves to be spineless and useless politicians.

  • Is Trump the sitting vice president of a country facilitating a genocide?

  • Democrats could minimize these issues if they communicated better. If they just said "fracking destroys our communities and hurts americans. We are going to invest in green energy and training fracking workers to transition to different industries".

It's like how they aren't pointing out that undocumented migrants are regular tax paying people, and deporting them would be horrible. Instead of doing that they've moved further to the right and now are campaigning about how Trump blocked their awful border bill.

Democrats only have themselves to blame. They have absolutely no idea what they are doing.

  • Yes, US imperialism is responsible for much of what is going on in the middle east. I'm not going to pretend to know enough about those conflicts to answer your question, but I'm not exactly sure how it's relevant. But as a general rule, yeah the US should fuck off and stop interfering in other countries. It never helps and it's never truly motivated by selfless goals. America does not support Israel because Israel is "good", they support Israel because it's their proxy base in the middle east. Hence why not even Democrats give a fuck that their "closest ally" is murdering children daily.

The US should absolutely stop funding Israel and Israel should immediately withdraw from the Gaza, the West Bank, and its illegal settlements. Not sure what you expected me to say.

  • Our family's first cat brought in a crow. I can't remember how we got the crow out of the house lol

  • Dude what the fuck

  • Israel created Hamas by murdering Palestinians and illegally occupying their territory for decades. So blame Hamas all you want, but Hamas's existence is also Israel's fault.

  • Fair enough, my ignorance/age is showing.

I've taken public transit all my life so I understood what it meant. Never heard the term in Canada before though.

  • Apparently we're calling commuters "straphangers" now too. I wonder if the NYPD will shoot at speeding wheelgrippers next.

  • I don’t want my depressive episodes to result in my cats being miserable

I would appreciate if you didn't attack me personally.

Nah but for real I go through the same thing. I feel really guilty when I let their box get out of hand, they never seem bothered either which kind of makes it worse.

  • A blue map doesn't feel very good when the results are continued genocide, republican border bills, and "the most lethal military in the world".

I'm not saying don't vote blue, but lets not pretend young voters have much to be excited about.

  • 4 years ago the dems ran on not caging children at the border, now Kamala is running on how she's going to sign a republican border bill and "secure our border".

Is it really that hard to imagine why some voters might feel apathetic about voting for democrats?

  • "Democratic voters" are unreliable because Democrats do not deliver, simple as that. Public healthcare, cannabis legalization, not-funding-a-genocide. Kamala is promising none of these things. Kamala is promising that America will have the most lethal military in the world. Kamala is promising America will support Israel's "right to defend itself". Kamala is promising a "secure border".

Barring Tim Walz and a few policies, Kamala is running a campaign that the republicans of the Bush era would support wholeheartedly. Democrats consistently run campaigns on the premise that they are better than republicans, then quietly shift their policies towards the right. 4 years ago the they ran on not caging children and ruthlessly deporting families, now they're running on "strong border" rhetoric.

Stop blaming voters for the Democrats inability to run on and enact good policy.

  • The response Harris made to the protestors at the DNC is the best example I can think of. I'm probably exaggerating how much the Harris campaign is relying on this strategy because lemmy is inundated with "DO YOU WANT TRUMP TO WIN???" commenters,

  • Pretty sure that's the point of the comic.

  • ignoring a lot of the advice from Hillary Clinton strategists (thank fuck)

idk. They seem to be running on the "if you don't vote dems you hate black people" shtick that didn't work in 2016. Lemmy users are eating it up though.
