  • Hi, I'm here as a representative for the countries that aren't the USA. Basically we have no faith in the US, its government or general population. If you feel alienated in the current US we advise you to flee to our countries while you still can, but please try to leave all your ideas about how to make a country great in the US before you come here.

Most of us feel sorry for you guys, but we're also feeling a bit of schadenfreude since "your kind" used to beat your chest so proudly and always say insane things like "were the greatest country in the world" all over the Internet.

  • There is always the heat death of the universe to look forward to!

  • For context (mostly for Americans), in Sweden most people have what you would know as tenure. Even someone working McDonald's for 6 months has tenure at that job. Calling in sick is not something that it's possible to fire anyone for, and the concept of "number of sick days" is foreign to us

  • Yeah, globally. This article isn't about Mexico

  • I haven't read about, and am not interested in the shooter.

My opinion is only that the world is better off without Charlie Kirk, nothing else at this point.

  • I completely understand, and I actually wish that I could share your perspective. Unfortunately for my "empathy for all" perspective, I couldn't help but smile when I read that he got shot. Because my mind directly went to the "oh, this is gonna alleviate so much suffering" POV

  • The intent wasn't to "cure " but maybe provide a standard phrase that has worked well for me in the hopes that it might do so for others

  • This is just my perspective, and I never wish harm or suffering on another living being, but if what/who you are and advocate for causes these things and you're too stupid or bribed to see it and continue being you... Then, for the greater good, good riddance

  • "I'm sorry, I completely zoned out. Can you repeat that"

Is the least problematic way to get the information again of you somewhere along the line realise that you probably should have been trying to listen.

  • As an almost 40 year old man who has worked a few years in different kinds of healthcare (including being the only man in a retirement home). I would get pissed when people being lazy caused suffering (because of lack of care) but that never gave me the go ahead to do the same. I'm better than that.

I also started my job journey working in factories, wielding shops and construction sites. In factories you learn to count every minute and be extremely punctual. You know how many seconds more you can chat before you get a backlog and shit from the boss.

In shops and construction sites people will chew you out and really ostracise you if you don't carry your weight.

But mostly: Is my job to actually be working during my working time and I don't give a fuck about what Karen thinks about stuff, she's shit at everything anyway

  • What's the punishment for this kind of contempt? $1000 fine?

Like, okay contempt, soooo? Can't they just contempt the contempt?

  • If only there would have been any early signs that this could happen.

Why didn't anyone say anything? Try to warn people!?

Oh well, at least this is the final step and it's only gonna get better from now on. /s

  • How about we both do the calculations and we cancel each others consultant fees?

  • This is also true for cars, but electric cars are viable even though its the same comparison between energy density. Would you be willing to have this conversation with actual calculations and specified arguments regarding the numbers?

  • I like trains and I'm not American. You brought up energy density as the factor preventing long haul. Please don't appeal to authority as the argument but rather state what you think the energy density needs to be and why to make electric long haul viable.

  • I'm curious what you think the energy density needs to be for it to be viable and why? The way I see it energy density is a very minor factor for this equation but I'm curious to hear your explanation.

  • I know that's true in the US, but do you have a source for Europe on that?

  • The ones who disagree just say that "is not clearly visible in the data, yet" for anyone wondering.

If you go by simple physics it's undeniable that it should be speeding up, there are just too many variations and the dataset is too small for some scientists to want to make such conclusive statements.

  • For the Americans wondering, yes we can do that in Sweden.

  • Ask Lemmy @lemmy.world

What do you think is the best way to handle trash?
