  • This is that same shit where the media showcases some "heartwarming story" of a child opening a lemonade stand to save for college while his parents are imprisoned. Does anyone read this and think "ah I knew it, Ukraine are the good guys!"

I mean obviously a huge swath of the Ukrainian military is there under duress - even these "volunteer" women, I'm certain - and they deserve sympathy. I just don't get how NYT thinks this is inspiring rather than horrifying.

  • Yeah I don't know too much about Adam Friedland but I commend his genuine effort to expose the vileness of Richie Torres and the position he represents. But, this interview was an expose on the power of rhetoric. It's not to say that Adam's humanity/emotions were wasted, I think they did wonders for those viewing with empathy. But, if we are to engage the masses, we must also master rhetoric while being on the factual side of history.

  • I imagine this is largely an effect of hiring freezes while they try to pressure their current staff to make up the difference with LLMs. This would achieve both:

    1. Reduced labor costs long-term (if it works)
    2. Generate culture of employees being pressured to leverage LLMs instead of requesting an increase in staffing.

But, if I'm right, that doesn't mean that the current hiring freeze is actually panning out for these companies. I feel like all managers have essentially been tasked with this for the last 1.5 years.

  • I fly a kite sometimes - there is a large field that was supposed to be a new apartment complex, but the development was halted/scrapped during COVID and it never resumed for some reason. For now, I take advantage of this large, treeless swath of field for Kite flying.

  • I mean the title did request a "communist podcast"; I'm not going to be belligerently sectarian but communism is more distinct than 'generally leftist' even barring the fed-jacketting claims.

  • Trump brokered a deal with the "fifth estate" that if he stops saying "fake news" and agreed to apply sign-offs to his twitter posts (to make them more "presidential") then they will stop calling him an anti-democratic fascist.

Tellingly, his prior critics did not care if he retained his anti-democratic, fascistic tendencies.

  • Alright I guess we can just throw these mass-produced rags into the fucking garbage if they prefer.
