  • Imported US culture (movies, TV etc) has successfully planted the idea in a lot of people that teenagers under 18 are "essentially the same as little children". So no one cares about technicalities.

  • The issue here is that most countries define the age of consent differently. I think we can agree that when a 16 year old agrees to sexual contact with another 16 year old, the dynamic is different than if they agree to it with a 40 year old. Absolutely. But that does not mean that the 16 year old doesnt understand what they are doing.

  • I can assure you that the judiciary system in my country does work. It's just that these people either a. just want to beat someone up and need an excuse, or b. don't agree with our laws and think it should be prison time for a 18 year old who wants to date a 16 year old, or a 21 year old who wants to date a 17 year old.

  • They lump far more people into the same group. They attack anyone whom they think they can, even if they know that their accusations are BS.

  • Just happened here in Austria. Police took 20 people into custody (13 have since been formally arrested) for luring people to fake dates where they beat them up.

The suspects said they hunted pedophiles, but at least in some of the cases they targeted young adults who expected to come to a date with 16-18 year olds.

  • Especially the part about his wife. Sounds very much like espionage to me.

  • ORF und BBC koproduzieren übrigens schon seit ein paar Jahren die Serie "Vienna Blood" miteinander

  • I think we can safely assume that this Blog post was not run by their ceo and simply created by someone at Proton who thought it was a good idea

  • Ah yes, "Überbangen", the perfectly fine and normal translation for "Big Bang". Silly me thought it was "Großer Knall".

  • There are now Fediverse Enhancement Proposals (FEP) that are being published by Fedi developers with the goal to improve interoperability and well-being of diverse services, applications and communities that form the Fediverse.

  • From the RFC that is linked above:

"Plugins will make Lemmy more flexible, and allow implementing features which are too niche for merging into Lemmy core. It will allow Lemmy to focus on core features, while allowing outside developers to contribute new features without using Rust."

  • Everyone I ever talked to told me "well yes we have to implement our own version of ActivityPub because AP is under-defined". In most cases it is defined what AP does, but not how. Therefore individual programers go in and figure out on their own how a certain thing they are building for their platform should be structured in AP.

Now, every project could simply go "I will copy the way Pixelfed implements it". But why should PF have that priviledge?

  • That is still not the point the commenter and the original blog author were making.

What we can take away from this episode is that Pixelfed implemented the fix in a way that suggests they would not handle a 0 day exploit with a "reql" vulnerability well. And having followed dansup's projects for a while that doesnt surprise me, because he clearly prefers to work "chaoticly" than in a structured, regulated way.

The "taking the heat" is something completely seprrate and boils down to stupid people on the internet needing to be angry at someone.

  • There is the "new comments" sort which makes it sort chronological by the time of the last comment under a post

  • You mean like a list of all communities named "books" or "books.."? And then you could choose to visit individual communities by clicking on them?

  • Sone obvious ones like Sherlock, Broadchurch or Taskmaster.

I haven't seen La casa de papel or Borgen yet but consistently hear that they're good. Also have heard good things about the british-austrian production Vienna Blood.

For lgbtq teen drama, I can recommend the Nordic Young Royals and Tore.

Btw, Germany and Austria did an adaption of The Bridge set at an alpine mountain pass, called Pagan Peak (OT: Der Pass).
