  • Locomotion via shimmy exclusively

  • Huh, weird! KDE on Wayland has been rock solid for me! I've been using Plasma 6, so can't vouch for Plasma 5's stability, if that's what you were using.

  • Bnuuy ears!!! :D

  • Code analysis and suggestion tools in many professional IDEs are not powered by LLMs, in the IDEs I use, there's an available LLM that I've disabled the plugin for (and never paid for so it did nothing anyways). LLMs are simply too slow for the kind of code completion and recommendation algorithms used by IDEs and so using them is not "using genAI"

  • I love hanging out with people and do it whenever I can really. However, I also do lose energy rather quickly in a social scenario and can have to tap out and go be by myself not infrequently. It's not that I dislike social interaction, it's that it's quite draining, which is more how I think of being introverted.

  • That's the kind of person I wanna be. Those are the goals.

  • Having recently taken a trip to NYC; this is so true. I got more exercise than I normally ever do, felt great, and never once thought about traffic. Walkable cities are amazing.

  • Yeah, public transit so common and part of day-to-day it's unremarkable and boring.

  • Reminds me of a Rug Doctor rental machine I saw that was proudly displaying the default Raspberry Pi OS background and a login prompt

  • Y'know I'm considering that I've misread this comment chain actually. My apologies.

  • Do you know what assault is?

  • I didn't catch on to the allegories in the film until after I finished watching it. I can, however, attest that it really is a great film. It's funny when it wants to be, tells a story I found interesting, and really feels like a comic book in some of the best ways.

  • When I can go and get a 1TB MicroSD card for under 100 bucks; I can't fathom a Switch 2 cartridge is in any way nearing it's max on game size.

  • I think I want to talk to my doctor during my next appointment o.o

  • There's always a chance for hardware damage chaining devices together that were not designed to be used as such. To keep your hardware safe don't use it in ways that violate the manufacturer's guides and recommendations.

In this case? Probably just wouldn't really work, might corrupt save game data.

  • [EDIT]

Based on further research (read: exactly one DDG query) It appears the Action Replay is actually significantly more complex than I had guessed and functions differently enough from the Game Genie that they quite often simply cannot operate in tandem like this and can cause serious issues.

Read on if you'd like a cool story that has little to do with reality, or would like to imagine how chaining game genies might work if that was feasible :3

    [/EDIT]

Based on my (admittedly not incredible) knowledge of how those devices both work, they intercept reads for specific memory addresses from the CPU and insert their own values. As long as they both weren't set up with codes to modify the same address very little would happen, it would behave as you might expect.

If the two both had codes that modified the same address the Game Genie would "win" here since it is physically closer to CPU in the chain. It would see the address matching one of its codes and spit back its value, neither the cartridge nor the Action Replay would see the memory read occur.

  • Yup

  • Sometimes I swear I must have spacial blindness. I can check an area 7 times and not see the thing I'm looking for even though it's there.
