The reason for the ratio is because this is very close to a pedophilia apologist viewpoint blurring the lines between attraction and consent. If they are an adult with the body of a twelve year old, why would another adult be sexually attracted to them (their body)? At what point is the line between respecting an individual's autonomy to present as a minor, and sexually objectifying actual minors?
But that is why the downvotes. Because it is very easy to read the original post as "nah, it's not pedophilia, they're technically legal!"
Isn't that more a social issue? Getting drunk and becoming violent isn't a cause-effect. Someone that becomes abusive after drinking would be abusive without alcohol as well, that's just a trigger for the behavior.
This is closer to an actual answer, though. It's easier to remove drinking than to change drinking culture. It just didn't work the last time they tried to ban alcohol (in the USA), so if behavior around drinking is the issue that is trying to be solved there are probably other ways to go about it.
Ok, but there are plenty of other items that that do that as well. It's not a call out of "all drugs, including tobacco and alcohol". It's not a callout of microplastics. So there's something specific to alcohol.
I mean, you're right. I don't agree with the emulators being taken down, it sucks, but it's hardly surprising that Nintendo, a company known for strictly protecting their copyrights, would go after these projects.
Hopefully other people and projects can pick up the reins, but should always be ready and prepared for another strike like this.
Wasn't there recently an article from TheOnion or such that said this exact thing? Wild how little fucks these monsters give about anyone but themselves.
I find that take very problematic. Not because of your opinion on who can or cannot use words like queer, but because you aren't giving a meaningful alternative. What language should an ally use to avoid stepping on someone's toes?
Personally, I think intent is very important in this sort of context, so I don't see issue with words like queer when used earnestly in support. Though I know my experience isn't universal, and I think OP sees that and is trying to be mindful.
I just did this with my desktop pc when I added a second drive for additional storage. Instead of using it as additional storage for windows like I initially intended, I decided to dual boot with Mint on the second drive.
So far, I haven't had any issue with gaming on Mint, either! Granted, most of the games I play are through Steam and either work with Proton or are native Linux to begin with. I did install a few games with Lutris, though, and works fine so far. Sea of Thieves, Astroneer, Slay the Spire, Deep Rock Galactic, are all working out of the box.
Only thing I haven't attempted yet are multiplayer games with active anti-cheat, like LoL or CS:2. If those are the sorts of games you regularly play, you'll probably be better off in the Windows partition/drive, but have fun experimenting in Linux!
It seems they had the same thought "Crap, what can I do with this flamethrower? Maybe I can trade it for that drone!"
