  • How to revert to an earlier version of an app?

  • IMHO you need to use adb to force install older version. Something like :adb install -r -d myapp.apk

    Look it up! It should be possible to use termux on phone and connect wirelessly to your own phone to access adb. Or you have to use another device to connect to your phone.

    Of course simpler solution is being able to backup settings and data, uninstall then install older version and restore data.

  • Is there no more dedicated posts about anime of the week ? It was nice to have it so you could check which anime performed well and might be interesting to pick up if you weren't already watching. I miss those posts !

  • Glad I started watching this. I tried because it was tagged as sci-fi but didn't really look like it and I was dubious about it being something I would enjoy. Yet I really dig the mistery around second Kowloon and it's inhabitants. I wonder what would really happen to "real" people eating Kowloon foods.

    I checked manga and it has not ended. So anime won't be either when current season ends. Hope it won't be a let down and that they will adapt all of it. 🤞

  • What is sad is that if every governmental administration was switching to fediverse and especially stopped to use x/twitter it would create a move to mastodon.I think people would start to follow and it would make it more plausible that one day fediverse would be the main networks used. More so if governments were supporting development in any way.

  • Dev posted few weeks ago about donations being a little short and having lowered making it more difficult to support development. A lot of people then started to donate or increase their financial support.

  • What helps people get comfortable on the command line?

  • What helps me is to understand what commands acronym means. For instance cp for copy, mkdir for make directory, blkid for block id, ls for list (not too sure about actual meaning for s) and so on!

    Nice tips about ctrl+r to search in command history. Was not aware it existed!

  • Just a random thought, if there is a need for privacy wouldn't it be possible to create public / private encryption key for users so messages can be encrypted and exchanged.

    This way what would be public is that there's an exchange but nobody would be able to know what was said. It would make it at least message content private.

    To make it a step further could exchange between servers also use it to encrypt which users exchange private message. I am thinking it could make it fully private then. Only sender and receiver servers could know which users were private messaging.

  • And do some comments / recap. I find annoying people just posting link without saying anything. IMHO lemmy is about people opinion not just sharing link.If you want news links then rss reader, Google news, Flipboard or whatever are what should be used.

    Not to say OP didn't do a good work. But Lemmy is better when you are not ending just clicking link to read articles.So a suggestion would be at minimal to add an AI recap as post comment.

  • Can't you disable it in settings? On android there is an option to toggle off sponsored shortcuts.I agree they shouldn't force it on but at least with minimal effort and if it's really annoying it's easy to disable.
