  • You mean the guy who said

Not everybody has the same shitty taste as you.

Yeah I kind of thought that deserved mockery.

  • That was kind of my point but apparently IPAs are a protected species.

  • The fact that you immediately went to IPAs... Ugh.

  • A Gun

    Jump
  • I know how to be safe, suggests unsafe thing.

That's not safe! Does even worse thing.

    Pretty standard joke setup.

  • Step two of the Russian play book is to identify a "sympathetic" group in the target country. They don't have to be American, just close enough for propagandists to sell as "oppressed".

  • Yup

  • Honestly, that is a route it could go. More like Vietnam than Iraq. We just keep building up "advisors" until suddenly it's a whole war.

  • Ooo thank you.

  • It's exactly like Collins and Manchin. They put up a big show of fighting and then just vote for it anyways.

The DNC must be abolished if this is their version of opposing the destruction of our civil service.

  • Can we do a territory with limited autonomy? That way we can't infect your politics.

  • Yeah. At this stage, after this much back and forth, this is a serious statement. It wasn't just a one off dementia thing. This statement was the thrust of what he was saying so this is what he wanted to say. He's not campaigning anymore, or justifying policy anymore. It was a direct extortion attempt on an entire country by the man in charge of the world's most powerful military.

  • Trade deficits are also often structured that way on purpose because the alternative is the smaller country not allowing any trade in from the larger country.

  • Hey just one thing. Please don't do illegal things to people wearing MAGA hats. They aren't worth it and American conservative media will just use it to fuel the fire.

  • It'll be more than that. There'll be millions of Americans who won't stand for it either. To think of it though, that might be the point. Something so heinous, yet legal (barely), that it legitimately compromises our security and forces martial law and a state of emergency he can exploit.

  • They were hoping the Republicans wouldn't be able to pass a bill in the house.

  • They've sent elements. Small groups. Invasion prep would see entire divisions deployed. For example the 300 101st troops recently sent are for "sustainment support" which is things like running food service.

  • That's the thing they formed an "interagency taskforce" so it was Forest Service, BLM, Corrections, FBI, Federal Police, ICE, DHS, etc etc etc. You couldn't point to any one agency, which was part of the problem. The other problem is it was an obvious end run around Posse Comitatus. He couldn't get the military to deploy illegally so he made his own little army.

  • You think the insurgency in a country that includes the Darien Gap is going to be easy mode?

Regardless, none of this is based of likelihood of good outcomes. That's not how Trump works. He wants to be seen as the President who is doing something. As long as Panama gracefully accepts that they're our ally while Trump is in office he'll leave them alone. Mexico is far more likely because there's no short term resolution to Cartels and immigration. As opposed to the other options he likely has conservative politicians pressuring him to invade Mexico right now.

  • Because of course it is. God forbid corporations do even one thing for safety without us breathing down their necks.
