Might be a carbon and unwanted other animal species issues. Bugs, small mammals, and predators thereof. Compost is great but it's still producing by-products. If distribution and politics could be solved (probably politics is the main barrier in distribution, followed by natural disaster, many of which are the direct result of politics), perhaps these things wouldn't be a great concern. But I'm not a scientist.
Alphabet is a huge supporter of Israel, and Google employees were fired for making their displeasure known for Google's uncritical support of a genocidal, illegally occupying nation state. Not surprising, to me.
Not even "a charity" but those are fine. A mutual aid network is fulfilling. My community has formed an informal, unorganized mutual aid of sorts. We don't necessarily agree with politics or personalities but when we have something to share, time, labor, food, ideas, a few of us are very responsive. The rest work and have children so they're kind of already plates full, thanks.
Taking a moment to thank the creators of Lemmy, who get boatloads of abuse and zero appreciation from the commie/tankie haters. I don't always agree with their politics, I do on enough, but fact is, none of us would be here, without them.
Something about looking and not seeing. Or those who have eyes to see...I wonder if this is our mythical third eye, the ability to imagine, extrapolate eg child/inner child, in this instance.
Happy Cake Day! 🎉🎈 🎂
