  • Think the downvotes are mostly title-realated. but also, you need references. There are definitely communities that are a better fit for this screed, no matter how much you may want it to be welcomed here.

  • I hope they bankrupt the fucking state of Texas. Someone should sue him for wasting taxpayer money. Toss-up on whether I feel bad enough for progressive &/or sensible Texans to care how those two thoughts play-out.

  • How the hell are they both wage-slaves and unemployed?

  • All good reasons to stay away from the Hue/Wyse branded WiFi bulbs(nvm that their colors suck). Also why those are less than half the price of the ones that require a hub. When the internet goes out, I can still control my hub-connected Hue bulbs, and some(but not all) of the various Bluetooth bulbs I own.

Original Hue bulbs are good shit, the best softwhite, yellows, and/or orange color-tones you can get on the market, but everything else is hit-and-miss IME.

If you like to read/study, its original Hue or Dumb bulbs. The rest is usually party/mood lighting at best, and the best deals for that are on the standalone stuff that comes with crappy remotes.

  • I felt seen for a moment, but then you walked it back. Sad.

  • I re-purpose sooo many things, and use so much random crap for projects when my budget won't allow completing them, but frankensteining my backlog will.

  • Yes, banning super-intelligence that doesn't justifiably hate us is an amazingly great idea.

  • nonono, line the upwards escalator with mattresses behind that combatant, and I guess hit the e-stop the moment one falls. Which gets the honor of potentially tumbling like a clown for a moment can be decided with a coin toss or rock-paper-scissors.

  • Narrowly avoided a downvote by way of a decent pun. Upvote for the username. jodblesamen🙏

  • Okay, but was it for their home, a friend, their boss, a government office or workspace? Was any harm really done? Was the fridge really unsecured during transport?

It always amazes me how little the context of what a group with a bad rep is willing to act on matters when they think they've found an excuse to look like they hold themselves accountable with transparency.

Accountability and transparency should be so much more than a scapegoat, a couple paragraphs, and a picture that doesn't even show the whole fridge/vehicle.

  • Every time I think of a stupid theft/security scenario, I find it has been done worse, at a ridiculous scale, and my reasons for not just taking what I want boil down to mostly laziness. Why yes, I'm white, why do you ask?

  • You either live somewhere warm enough to consider wearing them under long pants, have that much confidence in your thighs to wear them with short-shorts or dresses, or this. Sounds about right.

Personally, thermals/long-johns make me sweat too much in all the wrong places, so yes, I have worn thigh-highs under pants. Get too hot? Scrunch them down to invisible leg-warmers.

  • Have you considered a table-top reciprocating saw like the Worx Bladerunner? Personally, I would rather go that route only if it took sawzall blades, but its an option.

On the other end of the spectrum, you could always slap a worktable on a portable bandsaw, like Blondihacks does. She shows how to make one here, but there are a lot of options on the market.

Personally, I put a WEN portable bandsaw on such a stand. I went with the corded version for the price, power, and variable speed. If you look at the reviews, the only complaint I recall seeing is that its "heavy". I've got it on a stand, on a stool that I cut-down to put the table height just-below the height of my saw-horses, and I move it where I want without problem, so "heavy"? Not for my uses.

  • Thus the confusion in my first comment. Governments play at least as fast and loose with their own rules as this dude did, and you're right, its stupid the article doesn't mention it at all.

  • I read the article.

  • Not that he's not reselling them, but paying a 9% tax for every single item you posses beyond $500 in value every time you cross the border is just absurd. Remind me to never take my laptop, phone, or a decent camera anywhere near Singapore.

All that aside, I thought the idea of customs and import duties was versus new items, not things that can be picked-up at a second-hand store or pawn shop. If he provided itemized receipts, would they even believe him if the prices weren't high-enough? ... or were "too old"?

  • Of course they did. The US bribes them on an on-going basis, and they fear being targetted next.
