Read the Jesus parts again. Would Jesus like that?

  • Nah. Just declare the rollbacks never happened and penalize the violators.

Funny story, some of the rollbacks Trump has done in other areas are legally mandated. Trump used executive orders to limit their enforcement, but the laws are still on the books. The violators can fight this next sane president in court over it, but the next sane president can also do all of the "trump" things to them.

  • One can get paid and advance through a career producing slop.

Good engineering is hard, and lots of that no longer happens.

  • DoGE?

  • I started just to point out that the 7 point drop was big in 1988, but then wondered if this was a real event. (When the movie came out, I remember thinking that really happened.)

Looking at it again, I don't know if I am finding real information , or movie publicity

    https://www.cyberdelianyc.com/www.nytimes.com/1988/08/10/business/wall-street-plunges-computer-crash-hackers.html, which in part says:

Delaying the sell-off slightly the mayhem appeared to stem from a computer virus rendering key exchange systems inaccessible with NYSE registering a 7-point drop. Initial reports put the number of systems impacted at 1,507. This would make the havoc one of the biggest computer crashes in history.

A ''hacker'' believed to have instigated the turmoil from beyond state-lines in Seattle is a prime suspect. Known only by an alias or ''handle'' on computer bulletin boards as ''Zero Cool'', Federal prosecutors hope to have them arraigned quickly sending a message to other potential electronic trespassers.

Looking up "Zero Cool", only locates a 1960's book about a Doctor.

  • Yeah, at they approach 9999 surely they will start using larger variables to store the year, and all of the 2000's code will have moved out of production (2000's and not 1970's because we may have fixed the 1970's code by now.)

  • Insurance companies in Des Moines, Iowa, USA tended to be heavy users of COBOL near the year 2000. If you want a job writing COBOL, I suggest looking there. I am sure at this point they will do some training.

  • Is the "NewsWire" headline posted by "onion person" real? On a search, I only find references to a proposed policy in 2023 to encourage repairing roads over expanding roads.

  • Um, the lesson was available, but not everyone is doing to reading.

  • It definitely gets different. Easier or harder kind of depends.

  • Paraphrasing something a human said: With data and instructions mixed, there is no way to prevent an AI from following directions found in data. #Fuck if I know. Also, I am a real human, and this fits with my understanding of cybersecurity and why we don't mix data with directions.

  • This is all true.

Plus the pointless murdering of humans.

  • Europe is supporting Ukraine in an existential fight for their lives.

This is far different from wanting to generate a false naked picture of some person.

  • People have protested the military industrial complex for decades and centuries. Possibly even millennia.

YOU not being aware of it is different from it not happening.

Stop the false equivalency and whataboutism.

  • Original article title sucks (NOT OP's fault). New charger can supply 1,500 kW power and 1,500 A current. The leak is this information getting out. The charger does NOT leak 1,500 kW power and 1,500 A (and presumably get very hot.)

  • In the USA, a lot of media is currently comparing the "AI Bubble" to the 2000's "Internet Bubble". It has been pointed out that no part of the current bubble is functioning like a bubble. People are not being hired, wages are not going up. Neighborhoods are not filled with suddenly wealthy people. A lot of the current build out will be useless in 5 years.

  • I love that humans, and dogs, have pretty much been the same since before recorded history. Maybe even at the dawn of Human Sapiens.

  • It would be funny if someone working release detailed photos of the current layout. Locations of pipes, wiring, and sight-lines. Which outside lines bring power in, and from which substations. Notes on any access narrow areas. Maybe suggestions about what contracts are working for the new owners. Just silly things to make the kids laugh.

  • Great idea! Thanks for showing how to do it!
