Marxist-Leninist-Rondeyist-Losurdoist, the only correct combination of names.

Life motto: If Deng didn't do it, did it even happen?

  • Japainis???! Is that a penis joke??

  • The difference is a strategy. Tech bro bullshit is based on belief that the magic of technology alone will justify any sacrifice now. This belief in China isn't based in magic, but a very planned strategy with concrete steps. And it doesn't justify any sacrifice now, just more than you may feel comfortable with.

The fault of tech bro longtermism isn't in thinking about long term effects, it's the magical thinking which is grounded in little to no material reality

  • I got them all right until then, then quit immediately after that one

  • Perfect mnemonic until someone misspells. I've seen "Hinckel" talked about as a communist in the wild and didn't know what to do lol

  • Well, to be fair, Islamic resistance groups (not ideologically communist but progressive) have recently developed cells and flexible leadership methods which are sustainable and relatively successful. This is not what anarchist are usually referring to, though, because that still works strictly in a heirarchical structure and wields state power (good)

  • I recently became a new parent! It's super fun but I'm not finding the time to do anything like reading anymore. Hoping that time comes back to feel capable of working and organizing but for now it feels impossible. Love the kid tho, damn it's fun

  • It shows a lack of understanding or critical thinking about topics which aren't easily simplified but necessary to understand fully for our movement. The analysis of racism as a form of class struggle that interacts with the class struggle of bourgeous and proletarian, or between imperialized and imperialist. Though I see below that you apologized for being on a hair-triggee about racism so I take this partially back. Bourgeois Indians in the west (just like in Africa actually) are class enemies that might also suffer from systemic forces used on their fellow Indians but the aim of that systemic force is to push down the poor indians. This is critical to understand instead of the too simple intersectionality which misses the material aspects.

  • Aren't you the one who was complaining loudly about China recently? You got some brainworms to work through

  • Whoa I thought Suess was like a fascist or something. This is cool as hell

  • I agree that primitive accumulation is something that can be analyzed as hypothetical and theoretical, not necessarily a proven process in all possible instances. But claiming it for England?? That and Spain plus Netherlands are like the 3 most obvious cases where it's true lol

  • What's the hook? Why should I watch it?? Willing to take 1.5 hours for it, but nothing online about it has hooked me into wanting to

  • When you're right, you're right. I thought this was a veto-able vote. Still stands that the difference between no and abstaining is nothing in these cases. I'd bet the Israel representative went to the bathroom or something.

To be fair, this sort of thing just doesn't matter. Though if it's unanimous, it would give in to the idea that the UN has some role in the matter (as opposed to just preventing wars as much as possible between members), and so the list of countries that want the US to be the real leader just switch off breaking unanimity to prevent that idea from being too deeply planted.

  • People are jumping on you because you're from dbzer0, an instance which we have learned to mistrust (rightfully). I'm gonna play the good guy role and try to bridge this gap for your sake and for the sake of everyone reacting to this.

Your statement follows this logic: the attention videos get (and implicitly, the journalism surrounding it) is related to the viewer experience of that video (its attention grabbing-ness), and impacts how widely it is spread or cared about.

People attacking are pointing to a specific difference in argumentation; mainly, that the amount of attention videos get is directly relates to 2 factors: 1 how real the contents can be proven to be and 2 how much the media system pushes them.

So the claims of those arguing against you are that you are implicitly ignoring the reality which 2 different media represent (Palestinian Genocide vs Uighur Genocide) and collapsing that into 1 dimension. This implies that you find the events relatively equal in reality but with different levels of attention-grabbingness in the specific video-content. Idk if you meant to do this (and I will assume for now that you didn't) but it's a common trope libs use to equate the 2 and act like "2 things can both be bad" while only 1 of them has systemic support.

The other point that you implicitly miss (again, I'm assuming you're good-natured so it's just miscommunication) is that the filter which media sets up is much stronger than many of us realize. The Chinese guy's fame and the video's impact is almost entirely pushed by a western media system independent of any individual interest from readers (aside from that created through adding more (fake, in this case) context). Once it was no longer useful, that media apparatus threw him away actively, not just to replace him with Palestinians. Palestinian videos are homemade and rarely featured in Western-Media systems without added (fake, again) context which attempts to discount them. The success of Palestinian videos is almost entirely due to Palestinian efforts and individual sympathies outside of Palestine.

Because of these 2 major differences in concept you communicated versus what is more important in material reality, people are assuming you're a chud.

I'm gonna upvoter your comment though because I am assuming you meant well and just noticed how shitty the quality and content of the Xinjiang video is. And how Palestinians documenting their own genocide do it much better, and so people are clearly interested.

  • I will happily watch it on illegal and ad-free streams. Will also be proselytizing this strategy among everyone I know (as I always do, but extra now)

  • We can all hate Chomsky, and should, but saying his linguistics has been discredited it absurd. This sounds like saying "Marx was so wrong that an entire field of political economy had to develop to prove all that he got wrong." (I used Marx as a common point we all have, not to argue equivalent value between the contributions) He caused a significantly large shift in thinking which caused the field to develop further than his initial thesis, sure. I think several of his claims have been shown to be "too strong" but that's very different from just being horribly wrong.

I've argued it here before, most people really misunderstand the value of the "universal grammar" argument. And I think often attribute a much stronger claim to Chomsky than he was making. It's useful to think of humans as predisposed to certain rational/logical connections between the experiences they have at a very young age. And language has that logic built in at some deep level as universal ways that concept connect. It was just a shift from linguistics as descriptive to something which could make wider predictions. Often wrong, but it's developing like any other science.

Attack Chomsky for being a pedophile and/or pedophile supporter. Attacking his linguistics only makes us seem clueless.

Also attack Chomsky because he's a chauvinist unwilling to consider contribution by non-stereotypical-academics to revolutionary theories.

  • Others abstained for various reasons. Israel because the US would veto it anyways so who cares.

  • Is that true? There was famously a lot of industry in Ukraine, but like space shit was mostly in southern Russia and Kazakhstan, right?

  • Nice, we were in agreement the whole time!

  • There's the version in which Disney doesn't get to make IP claims on GenAI produced slop and GenAI also doesn't get to prevent mass-data methods of theft. This weakens IP for everyone and benefits the proletarian cause in the long run
