  • Excel depends on the usage. Way too many people want to use it for what it's bad at, but technically can do, instead of using it for what it's good at.

    I'm fairly decent at using Excel, and have automated some database dependent tasks for my coworkers through it, which saves us a lot of time doing menial tasks no one actually wants to do.

Sure, we could probably get a different software that can do similar things, but the department would become incredibly inefficient very quickly. Our product quality would suffer immensely, and our manual labour hours in production would skyrocket.

  • Manual labor also has its limitations. I used to work in construction, and after my 37 hours my body didn't want to continue. Sure, I've worked more some weeks in an attempt to get roofing done before a period of bad weather, but I'm not convinced I actually did more work than regularly, because I'd just be more tired the following day/week.
