  • It has nothing to do with third party app stores.

Someone made an app that was genuinely very good. Then a company wanted to buy the app. The developer sold the app. The company loaded it with whatever spyware they wanted and pushed it in an update.

Now the app is garbage. Sadly it happens all the time. It happened to me right after I bought a year subscription to private internet access.

But to be clear this can happen on any platform or App Store official or not.

  • I can't find a way to run any of these on my homeserver and access it over http. It looks like it is possible but you need a gui to install it in the first place.

  • I’m not a CEO, but I’m starting a very small company. I have been able to use AI in various way to help me quickly do some work and not need to hire people or commission someone do to the work for me. I still have someone I work with regularly, but instead of having two people. One person plus AI can do the work just fine.

  • I wouldn’t even consider a port scan a hack.

It’s just like a thief looking at your home to see if there are any windows or doors open.

  • On top of that their expensive phones are full of bloat.

I don’t know how anyone cat this price point considered anything other than an iPhone for Pixel.

  • I’m so lucky, my gym membership auto cancels if I don’t pay in advance.

  • To play devils advocate, my guess might be that consumers will have to schedule to return hardware or something. But honestly, it’s just so they can bully people when they try to cancel.

  • Maybe we took it out of context, maybe they mean that they are logged into their own computer 😂

  • Oh yeah! I’m dumb! I totally get it. Anytime I buy tech I make sure it’s usb-c if it’s not, then I’m not buying it.

The only non-usbc device left is my wife’s iPhone 13 and a Bluetooth speaker we hardly use.

Have you ever used one of those 9-in-1 usb-c hubs? They blow my mind, how can so much io be handled by that one connection?

  • What are some of these devices?

  • Now I need to find a 144hz monitor. I’m not gaming outside of my steamdeck and don’t do online, so I don’t care about that. But I’m always working with text.

  • I still use a 75hz desktop and 60hz on my Laptop. I can’t tell the difference.

Even looking at the iPhone 15 pro next to a 15 looks the same to me.

  • My problem with fair phone is that they use old hardware.

I never replaced any parts on my old phone and only replaced the phone with a new one because it was getting really slow. I replaced the xr with an iPhone 15.

So my concern with the fair phone is that I’ll replace it with faster hardware more frequently than I would have replaced a no repairable phone that’s faster.

  • If they get to stay home then why can’t I?!?

    That’s really it’s about.

The only people that should be in the office are people who literally need to be there.

Like if there are physical servers and they need to be physically configured then sure the tech can go in for that.

If it’s a repair show, then sure the tech has to come in to do the repair.

    Otherwise let people stay home.

  • This policy is so frustrating for me.

I’m from the US but live in another country.

There are so many apps that are only available in one country or another so I effectively have two phones just so I can access all my banking apps and some streaming stuff.

  • Someone found some code that referenced geo-blocking features. So if you are physically in Europe, then it should work and when you are outside of Europe then it wouldn’t.

I’m not sure if they plan to use the os with way, but maybe they will.

Maybe turning on a vpn will do the trick.

I’m guessing that they will lock it to Europe for some time, but in the next iOS update roll it out world wide as they see the writing on the wall.

But Apple always seems to find a way to disappoint.

  • I think big companies will have a mix of both.

I think a big job for the remaining artists will be to tweak or improve what the ai makes and then iterate on it.

  • Yeah, I am not going to bother learning its new name. I’m not calling it x to anyone. If anyone calls it x to me in real life I’m going to pretend I don’t know what they are talking about.
