  • I am from the US, my wife is not. I live in her country and Disney releases a different app for each country.

This is a problem, because I have the US app store and she has the app store from her country. So, I cannot log into our disneyplus account on my phone. Or I can get the app and subscribe then, she can't login.

I'd switch my account to the country where we are living, but I can't or I'd lose access to some of my banking apps. So, I don't even have a way to watch it without getting two subscriptions.

  • Can you explain what makes it a tax haven?

  • I think it’s because Delaware has really lax laws on incorporating and a special court just for corporate stuff so legal issues can get sorted quickly.

    edit

Like in Delaware you can incorporate for like $500 a year and not even need to provide the names of the officers or ceo of the corporation.

  • I’m the same way. I think it’s just a matter of being conditioned to manually save for the majority of my computing life.

  • Debian

  • I don’t know anyone who didn’t do this.

  • For a slightly different perspective, I will not game on anything other than a Steamdeck. So, this is kind perfect for me. But, I am a long hauler with hardware so I typically upgrade everything all at once anyway.

  • My local Pinkberry uses orange pi as their POS computer.

  • What is your side to this? Can you explain it to me?

A lot of the comments I’ve read who are on apples side, make claims that are not realistic or don’t give any reasons at all for being on apples side.

  • I don’t think it can. But it might be able to do it for the wiiu in some instances.

  • I’m hoping, the EU comes down hard on Apple. But I’m guessing this was Apple testing the waters and will make meaningful changes when they formally submit their proposal.

I’d love to see Apple get banned from making sales in EU for a month or so. Just to really show them that they have to start playing fairly and follow the law.

  • I agree, I almost got an air, but reconsidered when I saw how much I had to pay to increase the hard drive and ram.

    It’s not worth it.

Snapdragon is releasing new laptop arm chip this year and chrome is testing the arm version of chrome for windows.

I think that we will see some decent battery optimized windows laptops this year.

  • I like how just about everyone I who’s looked at this is basically like, “fuck apple”.

There are a few fanboys, but they are way less common than usual.

I’m hoping Apple picks up on this and reverses course.

  • I care about sideloading and imessage. If imessage was available on android, I would be using a pixel at the moment. It's just that I am from the US but don't live their. So imessage is the easiest way for me to be in touch with 99% of the people I know.

  • I’m getting real sick of Apple. I used to be a pretty big Apple fanboy, but over time I have been starting to resent them more and more.

It started a few years ago, when I needed a new laptop because the 2016 MacBook Pro had the backlight not working defect and I was out of the period to get it fixed.

I looked at the MacBook Air, but even to this day, it only has 256gb hard drive and 8gb ram. After upgrading the storage space, the price was insanely high. I don’t mind paying extra for an upgrade to storage and ram, but not $400 more for something that should be the standard amount at this point.

Then iMessage being locked to iPhone. Since I’m from the US but don’t live there I’m pretty locked into iOS for iMessage unless I want to deal with and pay for international messaging.

Now, once they’re forced to open the app store, something that a lot of people want, they are being so petty about it.

I just got an iPhone 15 to upgrade from my iPhone XR, but I’m really thinking about just moving to a pixel and saying buy to Apple for Good.

  • Baldurs gate 3 has gone from from 140gb to 200mb by changing it to a text based adventure.

  • I’m not worried about Google blocking it but rather the app I use to say, “hey something weird is going on with this phone better block/ban that account.

I know the risk is minimal, but it’s not could be a huge disruption to my income, so it’s just not worth it.

  • Here is my problem with a nonstandard operating system on a phone.

A rely on it to run my very small business. I don’t want to get blocked by an app I rely on or suddenly have it stop working due to running an unofficial operating system.

So it’s either stock Android or stock iOS. iOS I’d say is more private than Android, so I stick with them.

  • The fanboys make me angrier than Apple. It’s so frustrating to discuss something with someone who is so brainwashed.
