  • I agree. In my country, a while ago the government passed a law mandating that cyclists use the same lanes and road laws used by motorists where there are no bike lanes. I can't stress enough how fucking stupid it is to expect this and to comply with this.

It's the governments' responsibility to build infrastructure for the public to travel. Until they have three tiers of pathing everywhere, cyclists should use the pedestrian paths.

  • I hear you. I've taken to writing myself guides on how to set up things based on what worked for me, in case I need to again, purely because of how complicated each one is. Might write blogs later aha

  • Yeah, the way things at going I feel like I should protect myself further with a VPN, but it does break some of my services' access. Just another hurdle in the track to net independence that will be overcome! Heaven knows we've overcome many to get where we each are.

No need to bust your brain trying too hard - you'll find an answer eventually!

  • I like that view. I am of the opinion that currency, while a successful solution to trading - when the buyer has nothing of interest to the seller, money and the valuation of both parties' skillsets can be an intermediary, allowing amicable trade for otherwise incompatible trade - it has long been used to cause harm through greed, exclusivity and control etc. and has caused widespread avarice and obsession. Few people seem to recall what community and life without this enamour and worry with currency was like. Before all land was claimed and monetised by those who claimed power, and before every human was financially and heavily indebted to the applicable governments simply for existing.

Currency without malicious control shows promise. At some point society will need to figure out how to restart without currency becoming misused again.

  • Welp, I've been anti-authoritarian ever since I learned what it was, but this is the moment I will actively reject the UK government. They're finally coming to directly interfere with my life. I'll never work at companies that conform to this as long as it's in place, and I urge others to do the same.

  • This was announced several months ago, but yeah they are like 'be our data pig or gtfo'

  • yt-dlp crew explicitly state they won't touch DRM for good reasons, and that's fair. Companies using it for malicious reasons like paywalling/gatekeeping education are assholes.

I found two places with guides on how to use yt-dlp or ffmpeg:Stack OverflowReddit

Failing that, OBS (you might be able to stream the file through VLC first, idk) is your friend

  • They look at the paedophiles that groom children and think "At least I'm not that bad"

  • Hey, I watched that episode yesterday

  • Rip. I use AgentDVR for security and they do the same thing, but at least with camera footage you don't want that to be external

  • I use Emby and it's flawless, might be worth swimming upstream?

  • Ooooh you're lucky my instance doesn't allow downvoting

That OP seems to have tried Linux, famous for being free, heavily customizable and immune to corporate ruin, then tried to apply about every closed-source unethical product they could find. Poor guy didn't realise that there are solutions to every bullet point

  • Yass..

Gotta love school shenanigans haha! Sending people memes via Bluetooth, and finding/sharing these proxy websites that bypassed net security so everyone could access games during the day.

I think being back in those earlier versions reminds us of our lives then, full of naïveté, lacking responsibility and plenty of free time and comfort.

  • My first version was Xbox 360, TU1 or TU2. Wiki says it's equal to Java Beta 1.6.6 which checks out, as I didn't have stone bricks, the darkest wood was spruce, sheep dropped wool if you punched them and villagers all looked the same. The nostalgia is there but I wouldn't hang my hat there again.

My first Java edition was 1.7.2 and that'll always be a favourite of mine. Before the ocean monuments and pointless stone variants, before attack cooldowns and shielding.

There are several versions I prefer because the following update added something I didn't like, but I'd be sacrificing a feature I wanted from the future. Which is another pro for Java: modders have always been backporting the best update features. The spawn egg redesign from 1.21.5, for example.

  • Idk about the commenter you responded to but maybe they bought it on different platforms. I've purchased it on 5 platforms on 7 occasions iirc. Now the Xbox 360 Edition, Xbox One Edition, "Minecraft" on Xbox (sucks, looks like an MCPE port) and Java Edition are connected to one M$ account, I don't play MCPE anymore but that used to be offline, no account besides Google/Apple.
