Just a dude on the internet, looking for content and fun! I love Linux, gaming, writing, reading, music, anime, walks, and occasionally movies too. Chronically ill and anxious too, that makes life quite interesting...At times.

  • ROFL Excellent video, very meme worthy and how I think Linux by Scratch actually goes! Also, the casual disdain for GNOME is immaculate (it's just the most boring desktop that ever lived).

  • Yeah, 'overmuch' is a very useful word, great for shortening sentences! As an avid reader, I do see plenty of words...Rarely, do I use them because following KISS is for the best!

  • I edited that to: "not like she'll have to do much, given the state of Xbox". I was typing faster than my brain could think...It's been a day.

  • Microslop is making a number of baffling choices that were influenced by huffing the farts of Satya and other AI fools. Asha Sharma is in no way capable of running Xbox anywhere but into the ground (not like she'll have to do much, given the state of Xbox). Phil Spencer retiring from Microslop is probably a move he made knowing they are going to continue their downward spiral. Sarah Bond resigning from her position is a curious one. I wonder if Microslop execs talked future plans for Xbox with her, and felt so stunned by their incompetence, Sarah decided to abandon the Xbox division. There are other factors likely involved, but, I doubt we'll be privy to those details just yet. When the postmortem of Xbox is released...The people involved might talk about, at least I hope so.

As I don't feel Xbox as a console has a future, my current plan is to abandon Xbox as a platform. It will take time because right now buying an upgraded Gaming PC will be difficult, due to the insanity of hardware prices. For now, I'll have to simply save my money and bide my time.

  • Eww, Microslop can't help but be absolutely intrusive on any platform...It's so naff and the reason why I much prefer using Filen (Cloud Storage+Documents) and Collabora Office on my phone to store documents and create documents.

  • LOL I just downloaded the roms and used an emulator. There's no way I'd re-buy for the Nintendo Switch, only because I am against their current practices. Until they abandon their virtual card system, I don't think breaking my boycott is a smart move.

  • WTF

  • ROFL This is the reason why I only use Linux and grudgingly Android, as avoiding AI when possible is my mission. Failing that I go about disabling the feature (which shouldn't be installed by default) on Android. Its a stupid time to be alive. 🫠

  • I deleted my account after reading the article they officially released...Chat apps won't get my phone number or ID, they get hacked and compromised too frequently for me to trust it. It's total bullshit that they are pushing this shit on the world after trialing it in the UK and Australia. Discord can get fucked, it will suck that I can't follow the development of games that rely on Discord instead of forums or proper fucking documentation sites. Hopefully, more indies will stop relying on Discord (it's a rotten crutch) and go back to utilizing Forums in general!

  • Damn, I won't be buying games on GOG at all until they fully course correct into a better state of being. I will be downloading all of my installers that I care about, because if things are this desperate, they might not have long.

  • My following recommendations are often pretty easy for new users: Ubuntu, Linux Mint, ZorinOS. These distros will give you a chance to become more familiar with linux without getting overly lost in the process. Debian based distros tend to be the best starting place, as they often just work, their approach to Third Party Drivers is sane.

I recommend you steer clear of Arch or Arch-Based distros like CachyOS...If you are just starting out, this will not be a good experience for you. I've found that installers of either EndeavourOS or CachyOS can fail in ways you aren't prepared for, like failing to install the Linux Kernel or failing to allow you to correctly install partitions. Please, don't listen to those that recommend CachyOS or anything Arch Linux. Unless you are prepared to cry, or are very technically inclined and can figure stuff out fast.

  • Thanks to this article, I've put ANLIFE on my ignore list, as AI-driven games don't interest me. That headline is horrible, but, it could be parsed after thinking about it. IGN needs to proofread their headlines before publishing. I do agree with Hayao, AI/LLMs are an insult to life, and creativity given the current push to steal the works of artists and spit out slop. Robbing people of the joy of creation, which would make life truly hollow.

  • This is old news, as the optional ML/AI components have been added to the installer as an opt in, thankfully they understand that there aren't a lot of people that want LLM garbage. However, it still rubs me the wrong way that they're playing with the tools that are used to parasitize open source projects and even spam them with slop.

  • It makes me so happy for NYC that they got Mamdani! I can only hope for a Kansan who embodies progressive roots like Mamdani's, as we need that so badly to fight back against AI companies and it's spread.

  • I'm all for Chappell Roan...I'll stick to her music and not in-app purchases that support Tim Sweeney in any way, as he's a cursed human being.

  • I do like the fact that I can see all the sources for the claims being made on specific people. However, I would love to see a lot more information on how Lagoware decides ratings on every individual/corporation (based on vibes and information, some feel right). These kinds of opinions need to be kept in mind, particularly when "AI" full on fails and they start promoting the next scam. One of the reasons why these scams keep happening is that people aren't held accountable for their shilling and it doesn't rightfully damage their reputation.

  • ROFL Investors are like distracted toddlers that are so easy to sway. This is so stupid, I can't wait for the bubble to pop and we can return to some semblance of normalcy.

  • I think Morrowind is one of the best games that Bethesda has made in terms of being the following: Weird, has a fairly strong story that makes you think about what it means, characters misremembering directions, hand placed loot. It's a game that I keep revisiting and love it to bits, I still need to explore some storylines; combat might be the weakest part of the game, but, I adjust after starting yet another replay. It's also one of the amusing games to pull off serious cheese in, as there is no upper limit. It also makes combat trivial if you cheese just right, but I consider that part of the fun.

  • Not yet, there are plans for a more expensive console/PC hybrid that Xbox division has hinted at being a thing soon; Not that anyone would probably buy it given the Steam Machine is on the horizon this year. Since Microslop has a proven track record of failure post that one time they peaked, I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually give up on console sales. They always piss on their success and never learn anything from their flops.

  • Money has always screamed louder than ethics or morals ever will...This is why economic boycotts, particularly those with high participation get results. Pairing moral arguments with depriving a company of cash is highly effective.

  • Good news, developers have to flag their slop and I don't buy just any game blindly. I think, consider, and come to a conclusion about a potential purchase before making it. Slop tends to be obvious, but, I still shop cautiously despite that fact. I don't necessarily mind DRM, but, I know it also means that game ownership is an illusion on Steam vs GOG. If GOG does in fact stop engaging with AI garbage, they can have my business back. I do prefer GOG because of their DRM-Free games.

  • Games @lemmy.world

Finished Dying Light: The Beast, it was a good game.

  • Just Post @lemmy.world

If Arch wouldn't work for me, perhaps another atomic install known as Aurora would work! (yep, nerd post)

  • Just Post @lemmy.world

I thought I was going to be one of those, "I use Arch btw" types. Didn't work out LMAO

  • Just Post @lemmy.world

    Starting my day...
