Not in this case. I have a pair of Pixel Buds A that I've been using as well and they don't exhibit the same issue. I don't think it's hardware related, it's definitely software. Doing a restart usually fixes the issue when it rears its head.

TPU is a little too rigid for that kind of use, it would not be comfortable.
You'd ideally want to print a mold and then use silicone to fill it in and use the silicone as what you "interface" with.
But you definitely could use tpu for the shell that holds the silicone interior.
