It's most peoples understanding that being a member of any organization that has "socialist" in the name can make you a target for fascist. But I think it's also most peoples perspective that EVERYONE is a target for fascist eventually. There is no defense in just sitting by and hoping that you're the last to be targeted.

The SRA itself is not at all political though and members are discouraged from doing any organizing that could be connected directly to the organization. It's basically meant to be a safe space for people to learn responsible gun ownership. Something that is usually dominated by the "maga hats".
Join the SRA! (Socialist Rifle Association). We are the wrong people! We either arm the vanguard (not actually a goal) or we get more common sense gun laws implemented. It's a win win.
In more serious terms, think of it as an organization where you can learn responsible gun ownership without being surrounded by maga hats. You don't need to consider yourself a socialist to join. Though there is a basic vetting process to keep the maga hats out.
It's why it's so so so popular with conservatives (and fascist now). There is something about having skill in art that makes you a lot less likely to be conservative. It's about the material circumstances that lead people to become artists, I'd guess.
So now all these Nazis can make Trump memes by typing something stupid into a prompt. It's ugly. It's not intelligent or creative but it's just enough to spread their hateful propaganda. AI art is awful. But it's 100x better than what these fascist could ever hope to create.

Capitalism isnt failing because of some moral failure of the wealthy. It's failing because of its contradictions.
The guillotine is simply a symbol of revolution. Revolution does not require violence if the ruling class gives up it's power. But, historically, they never have. And the Capitalist class will not either. So violence is necessary in response to the state structures of violence.
So, I guess my point is that I'm not saying I want to kill capitalist. But, historically, the ruling class does not want to give up their class position and so violence is required to destroy the structures that uphold their class position.
That's not true. DeepSeek showed that smart people are working on it that are not entirely motivated by just making a cheaper way to advertise. I think the wests a implementation of AI is so horribly corrupted by capitalist incentives. I think we'll continue to see advancements out of China and Asia. It's definitely not "just throw more data at it".

There was a small push to promote "ergonomic" office setups and standing desks pre covid. But most of that died with working from home.

AI is about increasing profits. Consumer choice is not a thing when 99% of companies follow the same profit driven incentives. Reactions like this, while good, are not going to change anything. You cant make change through consumption. You must make change through labor and labor organization.

Marx wrote a lot about this as a criticism of capitalism. Specifically in how he defines alienation and product fetishism (seeing the economy as a relationship between products and not between people).
The "capitalism is human nature" is complete horse shit, because even if that was true, less than one percent of the population have enough capital to actually be able to make decisions in a way that would even apply.

I think my ADHD has really made me extremely anti capitalist since I graduated from college 10 years ago. Ive lasted long enough in a well paying position to have some savings. But im getting older. I can't hyperfocus a months worth of work in a day like I use to. And I really just don't have the motivation to either. I know my career is gonna fall apart at some point in the next decade. Just hoping I can find something else to support myself. I just can't work on a computer anymore. My body literally can't take it. I can't think anymore. Brain keeps telling me to get up and go for a walk or something. And it's not even all physical. I can sit and work on one of my personal projects still. I just give absolutely zero fuck about writing some code for a company that is literally just making the world worse every day. (Microsoft if anyone's curious).

Absolutely. I took some advice after watching this video on the topic awhile ago and if anything it's at least improved my mental health.
I don't agree with all the points he makes. But it's definitely helped simplify my approach when dealing with these people spreading white supremacists talking points online.
