  • I'm annoyed by the notion that our bodies somehow need animal protein to build muscles. What we need is a specific mix of amino acids. Animal proteins generally provide a similar mix, but that just means that eating meat is the easy route. It is definitely possible to mix plant proteins to provide our bodies with everything they need (at least in terms of proteins).

And honestly, I'm just tired of animal suffering, man.

  • It is probably best to listen to your doctor.

    Personally, I supplement 25 µg K2 and 20 µg D3 (800 IU), because I am vegan.

2,000 IU seems excessive to me, and I wouldn't be surprised if you're overdosing with 8,000. I'm not a doctor tho, so idk.

  • I usually take my hourly wage and compare it to the inconvenience. For example, if that inconvenience takes about an hour of my life, but saves me more than my hourly wage, I take it. There are exceptions of course, for example if I am low on money.

Aber: you do you, boo.

  • At least as I read it, "touching grass" doesn't mean "pretend everything is fine", but instead "get away from the screen. Stop digging deeper and deeper into news feeds, online arguments and 'theory'. Go outside, live in the real world and do something."

That can also mean fully dedicating yourself to helping those in need and fighting for a more just world.

how did you choose your career?

  • I just went after the first thing that sounded interesting, then the next, then again. It was quite a bumpy ride.

I ended up with a job that I really like, but that might be more thanks to luck than anything else, so I don't know that everyone should follow my example.

I do have some advice though:

    • If there is something you really want to do, try and pursue that first. If you don't, you'll always wonder how it would have gone
    • If you have never worked before, try that before going to uni. Maybe try an apprenticeship. I found that the practical experience grounded me quite a bit.
    • Do not be afraid to change career paths. You may feel a pressure to stick with what you chose. And it certainly is necessary to just tough it out at times. On the other hand, you are still young, and will still be pretty young in ten years, so don't sweat it too much, and try something new if you find that the current thing doesn't work.

Some dimensions you may want to consider for any potential profession:

    1. How much do you think you would enjoy it?
    2. How much of a positive impact would it have on others?
    3. How much would you earn?
    4. How easy would it be to find a job? How easy could it be to automate your work in the future?
  • Na, ob man mit 83,6% der Stimmen davon sprechen kann dass er "abgestraft" wurde...

  • Wouldn't it be easier to just move your community to an instance that disabled downvotes?

Anyway, why are you so afraid of downvotes? People subscribed to the community will see the posts, others won't. How do downvotes affect this?

  • I keep being surprised that people on here seem to have an issue with that nickname. Have a look at the lemmygrad logo.

I think tanks as a visual symbol of authoritarianism kinda make sense. No idea where the link to socialism comes from though.

  • I am not defending US imperialism, just criticizing a double standard.

Imperialism is a state seeking to maintain and/or extend power over other states. That is exactly what China is doing with Taiwan. Of course, unequal exchange is also a form of imperialism.

Imperialism is when you have a civil war.

That's just wrong. What is true though is that civil wars more often than not are influenced by foreign powers trying to influence them to their own benefit.

  • Imperialism is cool as long as the people doing the imperialism call themselves socialists or communists 🙂‍↕️

  • If there is a library, go there, way fewer distractions.

  • No, it just means you are someone that helps others, even when you know that you won't gain anything from that yourself.

  • FCAS is a multinational project with pillars, or work packages, distributed among the three partners France, Germany and Spain. This division among national lines takes precedence over the division among company lines, as the project deals with national classified data which may only be handled by citizens of the corresponding nation.

So while Airbus is an international company, it has German and Spanish work packages that only German and Spanish nationals are allowed to see/work on.

French Dassault was responsible for Pillar one, the core of the project, which was the development of the "New Generation Fighter".

Dassault/France decided to pull out of FCAS and develop their "New Generation Fighter" entirely on their own.

Now German and Spanish partners are left with an FCAS project without its centerpiece, and they are mad.

Anger is mostly directed at Dassault, which is refusing to work with its supposed partners, turning a tri-national project into a national with no regard for the effect this has on German and Spanish counterparts.

But the French Government also has a part in this. Dassault is their contractor, but they allow this to happen.
