    Schon heute gibt es Hersteller, die damit werben, dass sie ihre Elektroautos künstlich lauter machen. Damit meinen sie jedoch nicht das Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS), das seit 2019 vorgeschrieben ist und bis zu einer Geschwindigkeit von 20 Kilometern pro Stunde Geräusche abgibt, um andere Verkehrsteilnehmer zu warnen. Bei schnelleren Fahrten gelten bereits die Rollgeräusche als ausreichender Schutz.

  • My boss had a serious talk with my team lead that went something like "stop scheduling meetings that start or end directly to another scheduled event unless its something company-ruining urgent".

    She is very considerate regarding other peoples time and always tries to leave at least 15 minutes between any meeting most of the time. She also demands a good reason and a short agenda for each meeting. If you cannot deliver this, she will not attend the meeting. On the other hand, "I feel lost and need to vent" is a valid reason for her.

    I think she has something like ADHD herself and knows how draining subsequent meetings are. I have great respect for her and her achievements.

  • I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX. Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called “Linux,” and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project. There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use.

    Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called “Linux” distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

  • Minnesota als 11. Provinz Kanadas - das ist schon jetzt eine clevere Protestinitiative. Vermutlich wird es jedoch dabei bleiben. Denn nach dem US-amerikanischen Bürgerkrieg entschied der Oberste Gerichtshof 1869, dass kein Bundesstaat die Vereinigten Staaten von sich aus verlassen darf.

    Das macht doch nichts. Der POTUS hat es doch vorgemacht: Gesetze und Gerichtsurteile sind nicht bindend. Also alles Gute zum baldigen Übertritt nach Kanada <3

  • Da wäre der Verlautbarungs-„Journalismus“. Er gibt Inhalte von Regierungen und Akteuren im In- und Ausland kritiklos wieder, teils 1:1 bis in die Titelzeilen. Dabei genügt er sich in seiner Rolle als unkritischer Lautsprecher von Machtpositionen. Zum Nachrichtenwert werden Polit-Slogans, wird die reine Abbildung politischer Kommunikation erhoben, anstatt die gebotene journalistische Einordnung von Inhalt, Absender und Auswirkungen bereitzustellen.

    Predige, Schwester. Es ist einfach nur noch erbärmlich, wie die Aussage irgendwelcher Demagogen nahezu unkommentiert abgedruckt werden.
