Just realizing I've never posted a top-level comment in a megathread. Do y'all just be thinkin shit and be like "yeah Hexbear will fuck w that" and post?
Think about how many people are employed in marketing, producing graphics for the packaging, branding, and otherwise adding zero value to the actual product itself. Then splitting engineering talent and assigning some of them on differentiating their product from other similar ones. So wasteful.
They do spyware and do info sharing with the feds too, they just don't sell ad placement as their core product, so are less incentivized to collect more data than necessary.
I avoid this by having 15 calendar reminders or recurring payments setup.
A yearly $30 is not hard to manage, and I do it with several less important domains with ADHD severe enough to make feeding myself difficult.
Really hard to trust my privacy and security here when casually letting the domains expire is just brushed off as "its just a shitposting forum" as if libs, feds, and chuds haven't already expressed interest in targeting, harassing, or doxxing users here.
All plausible. I guess I'm somewhat skeptical of the timeline. Taiwan is too libbed up to move from soft power alone.
I think China will have to start vastly outcompeting TSMC to force the material conditions away from exporting semiconductors to the west before any actual change can occur.
I don't think the collapse of the west is that imminent, even if the inevitable death spiral has begun.
China wins by waiting, so that's why I think it will take more like 20-25 years. I hope your timeframe is right though.
GTK themes are themes for apps using the GTK GUI toolkit. They are basically CSS rules that apply to app widgets. You can probably find one by searching "amoled GTK theme" then installing it on your distro and using GNOME Tweaks to select the theme.
