All aboard the LainTrain - We all love Lain!

  • I just don't shop around, I come for X and buy X and even if Y seems good I'd never buy it on the spot.

  • Yeah just be autistic.

I'm not though - just use uBlock Origin, Sponsorblock, etc.

As for IRL, that's an unsolved problem, it's kinda best to just tune them out mentally though.

  • Meh, just more millenial slave mentality copium.

I understand being done with everything, but it's no excuse to portray that attitude as some sort of victory

It's not revolutionary to gaslight yourself out of your needs and wants, it's just a way of giving up. "Consumerism" was just a word used by defeated late 20th century progressives to remove any association with anti-capitalist ideas that at the time were represented in the public consciousness by the increasingly uncouth and imperalist USSR, before green politics got flooded with anti-industry kooks.

    EDIT:

You are being taken for all you are worth by the ultra-rich capitalist class and you will have nothing left and produce everything for them unless you learn some class consciousness. There is no shame in this, though.

But before even that - you need to admit to yourself the truth of your position, no good will come from delusion about present day - you should save that copium for moments when faith in the future wavers. There are many paths ahead, and only one backwards, the faith belongs in the former.

And yes of course, obviously because of internet context collapse some people in the comments below choose to interpret this in the simplistic black and white way because they can pose as witty intellectuals if they just respond to a strawman in their head instead of the argument.

It goes without saying - don't buy random shit you see in ads, minimize ad exposure as much as you can which is simply accomplished with decent browser extensions like uBlock, sponsorblock, Dearrow etc.

  • Barely felt like it at all. Whole summer without a decently consistent nice warm spell, just middlingly warm and cloudy, never proper beach weather. Winter weather came very early too in August and hasn't left at all. 2018 - 2023 all at least felt like they had proper summers.

Don't get me wrong, obviously increasing global average temperatures are bad for the strain they put on infrastructure and how they affect small poor global south island nations disproportionately, but in this country with humidity of 80%+ and wind makes even 10°C feel worse than a sunny day at -20°C , and summers barely get above 30°C which is where proper hot weather starts.

  • NetEase owns Quantic Dream (guys who made Heavy Rain etc.). Small world eh

  • Ironically these youtubers and what they do are the evidence (and to an extent cause) of a social contract circling the gutter, but not for any of the reasons they would have you believe.

  • No, they're just on payroll of the corpos.

  • Racists sure love their little Dubai holidays lol. You ever seen a leftist go to Dubai? Me neither

  • Uh, no, the headline pretty straightforwardly describes what is happening. These are private firms, they should frankly have zero recourse other than simply not doing business with that customer again and reporting to other private firms that track credit scores.

  • Yes, nuke amerikkka dear leader it's time, escalate! Millions must die

  • This has happened to me before as well, there's so many reasons a site or anything on your end or in-between could be down or have issues, that's why mirrors work so well for resiliency! Glad you're back up to speed now.

Deb-src is the source code repository iirc. Unless you regularly download and read source code, you do not need it.

  • Yeah, why would I click the link? The article text is in the post. Your post. Lol.

So I have read the text before commenting actually, and even if it's not the complete text, the general summary seems to be sufficient to determine the content and positions of this article.

Do feel free to prove me wrong though.

I have great respect for peeps on the sdf instance for SDF teaching me about the pubnix and old VAX/PDP systems, though of course you could be a boomer who's nostalgic (rather than a young person interested in older tech, which are kind of opposites if you think about it), and therefore statistically a homeowner.

That would probably mean you are acting in your class interests by posting an article that seems to imply that decreasing the price of housing is anything but a good thing and that housing should have any value beyond being homes people live in.

I could be wrong though ofc.

  • Use X. Wayland is dead on arrival.

For all the mad ones here's a reminder: the Steam Deck uses X for the desktop. You think if Wayland had a future, maybe Valve would see it? Considering they took Wine and made it functional and all.

Nevermind launching games via just Proton itself on the KDE desktop, but even if you use a nested gamescope session - it only supports X.

That's not to mention that for any gaming outside of the steam deck, you're gonna be using a real GPU that can actually play games properly, and NoVideo drivers only support X properly. You can either stay stinky with Wayland, or play with Path Tracing on.

Only GNOME Devs like Wayland. KDE, Valve, Qt and many other FOSS contributor individuals and orgs alike support and use X primarily.

Wayland is the IPv6 of the display protocol world.

Edit: guy replying to me is already blocked, what a surprise!

  • They will never spin low property values as a bad thing when I live in the west and know first hand the devastation to life caused by so-called "high property values". The joblessness, the homelessness, the abuses by slumlords, sick house syndrome etc etc.

Homes are a human right and are meant to be lived in, they are not for speculation or investment or flipping. I want the entire housing """market""" to vanish and idgaf what economic damage it does anymore, rent-seeking isn't producing value for the common man, it's extracting it, and I'm sick of being extracted from.

  • I get a 404 on those URLs too. Try a mirror? Look up Debian mirrors and try one of those
