  • This admin will never allow that child a moment of peace.

  • Sounds like that plan is going nowhere from other council members. Going beyond climate related though, how about Portland not spend $600 million it doesn’t have to ‘maybe’ sway the new owner from moving the team. City financed stadiums are never worth the cost, especially given moda’s location. Dude can move them down to texas for their fourth team and they can be the Austin Anywhos if it’s gonna cost that much money to keep them.

  • I don’t think it has anything to do with thinking it will end soon. He has zero ability restrain himself. Take the Jerome Powell thing; in May his term ends no matter what and Trump can appoint whoever he likes, legally. And yet, he is going out of his way to frame him for fraud so that he can remove him NOW. The simple function of him being told no obsesses to the point of mania. He fails the ‘marshmallow test’ in spectacular fashion, and this is just another example of it.

He is a monster unrestrained in all aspects.

  • Royce Keys, come on down!! I’ll miss seeing him, dude is so smooth for a monster.

  • Had a coworker tonight come over and brag about how there was a deal made for allowing a military base and paying for mineral rights. So we burned the last of our goodwill with the world to get what we already had and his supporters are eating it up.

  • I agree that it’s multiple interests aligning, but I wouldn’t discount Trump wanting it for himself as well. The man puts his name on everything, being able to add a new state as well as a massive chunk of land would be huge to a narcissist like that. I think the other sides you mentioned are playing off of that desire to convince him it is somehow justified.

  • While technically true, that headline greatly misrepresents what actually happened.

  • Fox news is blaming the parents ‘for putting their children in harm’s way.’ So even if any of their viewers see how depraved this is, their anger has been effectively redirected.

  • They say his whole body was filled with blood, especially the arteries.

  • Yes, and they lost it definitively. Although that was first term, so who knows this time around.

  • I’m sure we’ll get that again as a post at like 3 am.

  • Haha, yeah for several of them I have a pretty strong mental image of what I think they’d look like, but I don’t think it actually lines up with how they are described in the book at all.

  • Yeah, the consistency of quality is really impressive for how much he publishes. In the first shadows if the apt book, you can tell he’s a younger author (compared to some of his more recent works) but it’s still really well written for a first book. I’ve been meaning to give his podcast a listen, but haven’t gotten around to it.

  • Agree about favorite current author, I’m currently working through the shadows of the apt series after picking up the humble bundle. Children of time was also my first introduction to him, and have been hooked ever since. You probably know, but children of strife cones out in March.

  • Already returning towards flat, wouldn’t be surprised if it goes green today.

If anyone needed any further proof that the market is fantasy, the fact that the chair of the federal reserve being investigated for criminal fraud is barely a speed bump should be more than enough.

  • Thought a similar thing when that video of the guy in Minneapolis bringing out the big machine gun came out the other day. They look like a multiplayer lobby in some fps game who all have different cosmetics on, just beyond dumb. And then you get Bovino walking around in that dumbass duster and it really shows how much these guys are going for that tacticool look.

  • Tries to overthrow the government, convicted of multiple felonies, ‘how much of a threat are they?’

  • John Roberts: yep, checks out!

  • Article goes on to describe a glacier that has been shrinking since 2018.
