  • I'm sorry for being late but I have in touch with my friend and I have been a bit of a penguin for a while now.

I'm using linux so I guess the part with being a penguin is correct.

  • Remember that you are not alone on the roads. If cars without ABS are being sold some people who can't drive would get one. Then, during the winter they would cause traffic accidents when they slam the brakes and the wheels lock up.

  • Why wouldn't the Chinese companies start to produce these E cars? And if the Chinese produces the E car and sell it in Europe, how will it help the local manufacturing? And I'm not sure the estimated 10 - 20 % lower cost will be enough since the car will be very limited.

  • My local news site wrote that they changed back to times new roman because the calibri font was developed for people who had difficulties to read (like dyslexia I assume), thus DEI and the current administration has to change it back.

  • It will be another of those wake-up calls, often announces on Twitter. It is up to us to make a difference because the politicians will not do it.

  • My set up:

    • Browser: Librewolf on PC and Duckduckgo on phone
    • Email: Protonmail
    • Search: Ecosia on PC and Duckduckgo on phone
    • Music: Locally stored music and VLC (on PC) and Musicolet (phone) as music player
    • Office suite: Libreoffice

  • On the website they say it is voluntary.

We have opened the Sailfish OS voluntary subscription as a way for anyone interested to support Sailfish OS development and the activities around it. Your support directly contributes to the long-term viability and existence of this unique European project. Together we can keep the platform open, independent and continuously improving.

  • Sailfish OS is available on Sony and Fairphone. The Fairphone version is a community port and is missing support for Android apps as I understand it. The Sony version might be official.

  • Thanks! It would be nice to know that the screen and other parts can be replaced with a spare part if needed, but I usually don't have a problem with broken phones so it should be acceptable for me anyway.

I pre-ordered one yesterday and right now it is 1941 pre-orders so it is very likely to be manufactured.

  • I understand it is too early to know how the repairability will be of this phone, but how has the repairability been on their previous phones? I'm aware of Fairphone and what I want is basically a Fairphone with Sailfish OS without the limitation of the community ports.

  • Normally the GPU prices decreases so 50$ cheaper in 1 year is completely normal. However, in the coming years I fear that the GPU prices will increase again when the GDDR production decreases to make room for the HBM production for AI.

  • I was thinking about upgrading to 9600x or 9800x3D, so the 5600x is old and slow compared with those CPUs.

  • I regret so much that I didn't, I was planning to build a new PC now or in the beginning of next year. But with the current RAM prices I will stick to my 5 years old AMD 5600x. I will have to start playing games in my backlog if the framerate in new games becomes too low.

  • Correct, I live in Europe and my region signed a new deal with Microsoft that was 43.5 % more expensive per year than previous agreement. The region is also considering to buy a program from Oracle for hundreds of millions of Euro.

But I really hope it is much better in other regions and cities.

  • I don't speak French so I was not even looking at the bio. But now I saw it says parodique...

  • He have 7 posts on Mastodon! Unless it is someone created a fake account.

  • I had to look where my glasses are from. I have Ikea (Swedish) glasses manufactured in Spain and Rosendahl (Danish) glasses manufactured in Turkey. I also have coffee cups from Rörstrand (Swedish brand but now owned by Fiskars (Finnish)) unfortunately they are manufactured in Indonesia.

So even if I don't have Duralex I feel like I'm at least supporting European brands. However, if I have to buy new glasses I will consider Duralex. The Picardie 25 cl looks nice and has a good size.

  • I had no idea of the names until I searched for Duralex and found their Swedish website which listed the different models they have. Then I recognized it directly. I don't remember that I have seen Gigogne before.

  • Did you had the Duralex Empilable? I'm from Sweden and like in France we have the Duralex Empilable in all schools. I even think the lunch restaurant at my work have them.
