  • Are there recommended reading leftist/marxist takes on AI? Varoufakis touches on it. Seems quite a lot to analyse there: US is betting the whole economy on it, with big labs hoping to replace half of white collar jobs but how do they maintain a monopoly to extract value with oss Chinese models only 3-6 months behind

  • I found: “did the US kidnap him because he’s authoritarian, or because they want to plunder the oil? Clearly the latter as Trump literally said it. Criticisms of Maduro are irrelevant as they aren’t why Trump invaded, and support Trumps narrative and give him cover for stealing natural resources from the people of Venezuela”.

Seemed to get through better riding on the anti-trump stuff

  • Recent protests at the Vuelta have been good to see. Even ruined israel premier-tech’s result on one stage

Makes that high pop% support for Palestine very obvious

  • technology @hexbear.net

Stanford study: AI replacing entry level jobs

  • How are GLM, Kimi, qwen coder? They seem on par with Claude sonet at a glance? Still not as good as opus ig? But does that even matter for majority programming workflows?

  • honestly it's pretty interesting to see the narratives around automation of programming play out in an industry with such little class-consciousness. But it does feel like it's really highlighting contradictions and tensions between management and engineers in a way that's forcing some reckoning. Combined with current economy + trumpism, might be creating some amount of attitude change

  • Must have been terrifying to be anywhere nearby

  • Isn’t it good for the US if oil price rises, being a net exporter of oil? (I’m a dumbass so probably wrong)

  • Death to america

  • Yeah the AI2027 thing kicked off a lot. Plus some of the newer models like veo3 being good enough to be destroy trust in video

  • Yea

  • Woke mind virus claimed the most loyal slop soldier

  • Extremely cool and fun. Probably the cheapest urban transport available too (assuming you replace the calories burned on a regular bike and don't just waste away)
