  • This is true. It's also important to remember that action begins with awareness.

  • First week of hrt has done wonders for my mental health, and removed any lingering doubts I hadn't been able to shake yet.

In other news, started a new campaign with my rpg group using Masks: A New Generation. It is a blast, and I highly recommend it.

  • If "bloodbath" = Republicans losing influence, does "blue balls" = Democrats losing?

  • The right answer is whatever feels correct to you.

Personally, I have thought of it like a scale from 0:1, with all the possibilities between them being trans and the endpoints being the two binary genders. However, the more gender theory you read, the less helpful that seems.

  • I mean, would you rather it went through? It's okay to recognize a good thing when it happens.

  • I started HRT yesterday! Been in a fantastic mood all weekend, which is a nice change.

  • Unfortunately, most of them are not the leftists mentioned at the top of this thread.

  • Not a German, but I watched a video recently that talked about their country's perspective on free speech, since that was in the news. Basically, it is interconnected with human rights, but that goes both ways. The Grundgesetz states:"Human dignity shall be inviolable. To respect and protect it shall be the duty of all state authority... Every person shall have the right freely to express and disseminate his opinions in speech, writing and pictures and to inform himself without hindrance from generally acceptable sources. Freedom of the press and freedom of reporting by means of broadcast and films shall be guaranteed. There shall be no censorship... These rights shall find their limits in the provisions of general laws, in provisions for the protection of young persons and in the right to personal honour."

Importantly, Artikel 2 states that these and other freedoms extend "insofar as he does not violate the rights of others or offend against the constitutional order or the moral law."

This is similar to the notion of, "my right to swing my fist ends where your face begins." Maybe some Germans could chime in about this, but I wish Americans would adopt a more practical approach to "free speech." Your freedom to express yourself should end when it violates another's personal honour.

To answer your question, I think their word, "Meinungsäußerungsfreiheit," would be what you're looking for. Freedom to express your opinion, with the social understanding of not having a license to go after someone's honour.

  • Pardon my perhaps limited understanding, but "trans" quite literally means "opposite"

Except it doesn't? If you start with the idea that gender is a spectrum, than transposing yourself along that spectrum doesn't necessarily mean transporting to the other side.

  • I am seeing my new doctor tomorrow to start HRT!

  • But don't worry, this ends once Trump leaves office /s

  • Love that you are able to have the small win of existing as a woman here, congrats! I am in a similar demographic to you, but with fewer children.

I came out to my wife in February last year, and it was one of the scariest things I've ever done. We are still together, love each other more than the day we were married, and I am seeing a doctor on Tuesday about starting HRT. Obviously I don't know how things would go with your spouse, but I hope they would at least be sympathetic to what you're dealing with and be open to talking more with you.

It's okay to take things slow, you don't need to rush anything. I wish I had started transitioning 10+ years ago, but I am so thankful for the family and life I have that allows me to do so today.

Keep asking questions, keep being open to learning new things about yourself, and don't settle for a new box for people to put you in if it isn't quite right for you.

  • My HRT appointment is scheduled for next week!

  • Correct. Tolerance is a social contract, not a moral absolute.

  • Hello! I don't intend to convince anyone one way is better than another, but I wanted to share why I like the mm/dd/yy format.

Simple reason, the number of possible integers increases as you go left to right.12/31/9999

That's all, got it out of my system. Thank you for reading.

  • I agree, I'm also happy that people like Walz seem to want to give people a better option, making a protest vote even less appealing.

  • I'm sorry you had that experience. Personally I didn't think Dread's bosses or levels were significantly harder than classic entries in the series, and some are straight up cake-walks once you know the patterns.

Regarding the instant death, it really didn't bother me. In the older games, you would find hazardous rooms that you couldn't progress through without a suit upgrade. The rooms with the E.M.M.I function the same way, except you get to interact with them instead of just turning around to explore elsewhere. They enhanced my fun with the game.

I'm glad Dread was generally well-received, but I guess it would be nice if they made an assist mode for people who just want the story, and the dopamine from killing a boss without having to try multiple times.

  • Wait, what in Dread was like Dark Souls that wasn't already in classic Metroid games?
